What is this computer device of which you speak?

When I was in school we used notebooks. This new fanged technology was made from paper, not silicon chips :!::!::!:

I had a dream this morning that I fell and as I was falling I thought this is going to hurt. Mum said that it is not a nice dream.

A couple of hours later I get a call from hospital that results from a special blood test I did in November have just arrived and the news is not good. They want follow up blood tests. I was going tomorrow anyway.

Coincidence?

Oh JohnK, not good. Did they give you any indication of the issue? I would hate being told just "not good". I don't do delayed "anticipation" well. :( All the best

Just sitting in an early voting booth for the SA State Elections on 15th March. I'll be on a big boat called Queen Mary 2 when the election's happening.

The abacus is quite useful, but I preferred playing Doom on my calculator in the back of my calculus class.

I really do not understand you children.

"Doom" sounds like something unpleasant... Wouldn't you rather be learning calculus?

I learnt calculus by hand

Most people did, and still now.

There's absolutely no calculator in existence (or that I'm aware of) that either has the capability or would be permitted in a calculus exam that would compute the answers sufficient enough for you to pass.

Some modicum of mental arithmetic skill is IMO still necessary in today's technological society.

Certainly no calculators around in my school days.If memory serves me correctly we used pebbles.

Unfortunately the doctor calling is only an intern at the clinic I visit at the hospital and mentioned an elevated count in the blood test that needs to be monitored closely.

I have done some research and the test is related to damage caused to liver by a certain medication I have been on for long time.

Best case scenario is the abnormality remains stable and I continue with the medication. Worse case scenario is the abnormality increases and I have to reduce the dose or stop medication altogether. May also require biopsy.

Without the medication the pain is unbearable.

Ah the joys of life.
