That is surprising. The twelve months to Oct 2012 has a total of 590,800 visitors to AU from North America, which means QLD has had a third of them.

All those misconceptions disappearing in the wind!

Really? Does that seem a heck of a lot of people to you? Maybe I'm judging the figures on how many you see in Melbourne - doesn't appear all that evident in the city.

Just that a third of the visitors from the US have gone to QLD. I am not sure how many of them would have originated from Vegas though.

800000 people live on the Coast or within adjoining Logan Council, and another 1.7M within 60 minutes drive, thats a pretty good origin base, I am sure some of the 33000 folks travelling BNE to LOTFAP each month would prefer to leave OOL.

Doing some quick maths I can't find an aircraft (777,787,747,380) that can take off on the current runway at OOL with enough fuel to reach USA, the runway just isn't long enough.
