The view from my "office"

@Sprucegoose
Have you been to the smaller SilverStar?

No, but I know others that have defected. I have found a ski coach at BW (now a close friend) that tolerates me, which works. I also have a community of social connections, including some guys who have skied here since 1964 - so it's a bit like home. There was common ownership at some stage, and the passes worked in both resorts.

Were you aware Peter Schumann died in Kelowna in August last year?

Which led to going back to my original office.

Cancellation reason? Weather (cyclone). That's odd, other flights are all going and one is flying towards where the cyclone/tropical storm is. More like the plane wasn't available!

Yeah, I would have booked on the TZ 718.....

Peter Schumann
Yes
Des (owned Hotham at one stage), his father, bought BW and later Silverstar and passed BW to Peter and SS to Peter's sister Jane.
Great mountains BW and SS - as close to a family friendly and unpretentious resort as you can get.

Aussies for those who dont know, and initially the Canadians didn't want them there - what would Aussies know about running a Canadian ski resort - a lot it seems...

VA237 MEL-ADL, seat 2C

This is different to the 737 I was on from CBR-MEL. The precious precious flight had a solid partition between J and Y cabins and the rope too. This one there is no partition at all. Rows 1,2 are J seats. Row 3 Is economy-X seats.

Economy-X has more legroom than J. I wanted to take a pic before someone took the Y-X seats, but couldn’t.

You always seem to be on a plane @Ade . Do you work 7 days a week?
Yea, I work 7 days a week. I have a couple of jobs that I do. So I’m in the airport at least three times a week for one the gigs I do and that’s when I take all the pics of different planes etc. sometimes I do travel, like this week, I’m off interstate for work.

Precious as you were onboard?

Was the divider a purple-coloured perspex?

His real name is Ryan Bingham, and he cant say more than that.

I think Michael J is running it?. A lot of the executive have been there for many years.

Yeah, he's here. We lost power for 18 hours yesterday morning; MJ has been a busy man!

Yes, he was here yesterday overseeing the total loss of power to the resort for 18 hours. A tree fell on the main connector and then another!

I wasn't skiing on the snow ghost running on a genny!

I had a birthday to celebrate at Cedar Creek, so I hightailed it to Kelowna.

@VPS The Holiday Inn Express that I stayed it is sort of in the business district, quite close to Marques de Pombal (a big roundabout close to a theme park). Easy metro connections to the rest of the city. So I'd say the location is fine. It's not in the historical centre or in Alfama though, which might be a bit closer to touristy stuff and a bit more "beautiful".

The hotel itself was pretty good for a Holiday Inn Express. Just don't bother with the coffee machine at breakfast, that was really bad coffee 😂
I don’t drink coffee so I’ll be good. There is a hotel called the Lisbon wine house and I want to stay there just because of the name

Just trawled through this thread, and it's title is not what I thought the content would be. Feel misled, but have very much enjoyed the content! My office is in my garage - I am a GIS consultant (lucky you if you have no idea what or how boring this profession is :) ) and I constantly fight a battle to find ways to hide the chaos in my garage when indulging in modern requirements such as skype meetings, etc. Hance I hide my "view from the office". But perhaps when I do my next field trip I can find a delightful image, and these do exist.

Yes, it’s “from” my office, not “inside” unless particularly noteworthy. And the “office” moves with us. 🙂
