The view from my "office"

We have the Australian government’s Astronomer-at-Large ( yes, his real title!) on board to present some lectures. Fred is an excellent speaker and makes physics sound like fun.
You are so lucky to have Fred Watson there, as you say, he makes astronomy and physics in general sound easy and all in a fun way.

I have known him since the early 80s, when we both worked at Siding Spring Observatory and lived in Coonabarabran.

But most importantly, did you enjoy the eclipse?

The eclipse was great! The National Geographic photographer and keen amateur astronomers went ashore on a sand cay. Scott has some great photos.
The ship opened the zodiac deck so there was plenty of unobstructed areas to look up from. We were dead centre of the park of the eclipse. Fantastic experience to remember forever. And no crowds! Evidently Exmouth was horribly packed with some 3,000 visitors.

The new Plaza Premium lounge in CGK T3 was the office this morning for pre-breakfast breakfast.

Was quite a nice airy space and only a small number of guests. Interestingly, instead of a buffet, there was a menu to order from and then food was cooked to order, sort of like an expanded egg station. Not an expansive selection but enough options.

Then it was time for after take off breakfast!

The accompanying views were of Sumatra and then the Indonesian Indian Ocean islands.

Some random photos from walk at the park this weekend.

Yesterday. Looked stunning in person.

And today the clouds were a beautiful yellow then some pink thrown in and finally purple. The moon looks gorgeous and not sure if that is a satellite or planet above the moon.

April 23: Moon near Venus

On April 23, at 12:31 GMT (8:31 a.m. EDT), the Moon will pass within 1°17' from Venus. The lunar disk will be 10%-illuminated, and the planet will shine at a magnitude of -4.1, which is bright enough to be seen without optics.

At 13:03 GMT (9:03 a.m. EDT), the conjunction of the Moon and Venus will occur. By that moment, the celestial bodies will move away from each other a little, and the distance between them will be 1°18'.

Venus is visible in the evening, after sunset. You’ll have at least two hours to observe the planet with the lunar crescent shining nearby. Both objects will be in the constellation Taurus.

It was stunning last night. Eventually the sliver of moon dipped almost to the ocean and the Sunset here was bright red.
