re: The view from my "office"

This, along with a few otherss came down in the storms the other week, a tidy up before the arborist comes to block for us, then we can split it for our fire wood after it dries out.

Uncommon views ...

The dots on the tiles in the last image are "nipples" where a type of anti hydroid ("water repellant") was injected into each tile to prevent them from getting waterlogged during a Florida thunderstorm while the shuttle was waiting on the launching ramp. (The "water repellent" would evaporate through the nipple during launch.)

And our resident Pelicans.

I am really impressed with this new camera - with no additional zoom lens required.

As an example, this picture of rocks taken with the zoom focus on the camera, also last Saturday

Standing on the same spot, came from this island you can just see in the distance using basic focus

Excellent pics, Pushka. Contrast is a little soft?

What camera did you buy? FZ1000? I've had several Panasonic Lumix (FZ 10 and FZ 20) over the years and then moved on to the FujiFilm HS20 equivalent. I like a super zoom for wildlife to complement the Sony FZ100 III when we travel. Have been thinking of another Panasonic or new Fujifilm.

Great zoom, what model is it?

Thankyou - I know zilch about zoom cameras - just a trusty old point and shoot and I wanted to get better with photos but didnt want to learn about aperatures and the like, nor carry around zoom lenses.

It is the FZ2000 - a model that is three years old but I just bought it the other week. Here are a few more when I tested it out in Sydney last month - bear in mind for a couple I was on a moving boat and my first outing with this camera (usually a point and shoot) and I didn't have a tripod.

This lovely shot of the Opera House (on a boat!) -

And zoom to the tiles:

And across Darling Harbour

See those windows across the Harbour....

This is the camera - I expected it to be very heavy but it wasn't!

And this guy - Graham Houghton has some great videos on youtube:

Did you mean the Sony RX100 III? I purchased this Sony a couple of months ago, still waiting to give it a work out. Looking for a good ZOOM camera to go with it.
Like Pushka, I only point and shoot. (camera, not gun  )

Yes, only have to get target in the cross hairs with gun, Camera.....erk.... left eye script for reading, right eye script for distance, I would never get an image in focus on a camera.
(yes, I am near blind without my contacts. Minus 6.5 is my script)

Haha this is my brother and his fiance! Our parents had the boat built in 1989 and we have always had it. Now they are living on a boat cruising the East Coast and my brother and I use it!

You never know who is watching!!

Yea. Sony RX100 III. Woops.

RX100 III is a brilliant camera if expensive. Easy to use but with photographer able controls if you want them, best image quality, easy panoramas, good auto HDR, Wifi connection to iPad to upload pics. (Then one can simply edit with Photos and upload to Flickr with Flickr Stacker plus easy upload to AFF. All whole lot can be done while sitting in a lounge with evening drinkies!)

There's even a remote control app for iPhone and iPad where one can focus and shoot remotely.

RX100 has limited zoom although with 20+ Mega pixels one can actually use digital zoom to fair effect. Still, one needs a good super zoom for wildlife etc. FujiFilm, Panasonic, Canon have a wide range.

Indeed you don't (although this time we at least know who after the event)!

Hilarious though when you think about it - a casual shot across water and there is a fellow AFFers boat!!
