re: Tier Matching at DJ

But just beware anything you post here certainly will get a wider audience than AFF-so if there is a chance that too wide a knowledge base will kill the goose-PMs are a better way to go.
Good advice.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Seems to be a lot of concern about the integrity of those who applied for and got the status match within the window.

I don't understand why people get concerned with what others do.....??

If someone is gold or platinum at Qantas and they can get status match more power to them.

I got the status match and now virgin will get some $$$ from me as i have booked 5 returns already with them something i would not have done if i didn't have the status.

some people on here need to get off their high horse!

re: Tier Matching at DJ

I am not sure what people mean by "worried about the integrity of those who applied for and got the status match within the window." The people who were matched already had high status with Qantas so they have a shown they fly a lot so it is very smart by Virgin to try and get them as customers or don't people want Virgin to become more profitable.

Also you only get status matched once so if people don't fly enough they will not re-qualify.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

From the sounds of it, most people here have been matched and then booked DJ straight away to try it out - somehow I don't think DJ will be losing money on most of us, given the status really only costs them money when we fly...

re: Tier Matching at DJ

If my card doesn't arrive by then will I have any trouble with the lounges?
Log into your Velocity account. Once it is updated to reflect Gold status, you won't have any problems accessing The Lounge when departing on DJ.

NOTE: For those QFFers who are use to "flash and enter" lounge access (e.g. Qantas domestic lounges; by just waving their card/BP as they go past the front desk) this isn't how things are done at The Lounge.

 When entering a Virgin Blue domestic lounge, the process is similar to that of a Qantas international lounge - in that everyone needs to be processed into the system. At busy times this means that a queue may form at the front desk , although some of the better reps will ask for your BP (if your Velocity number is pre-associated with your booking, then this shows your Gold status) and wave you through, and once things quieten down, they process your entry then seek you out in the lounge & personally return your BP (+ card).

OT: I'm looking forward to reading the reviews & trip reports from ALL the first timers. :)

re: Tier Matching at DJ

I have just checked my Velocity account and mine has been matched as of the 12/11/10, with currency thru to May 2012.

I sent it in on the 06/11/10 (without PM'ing Velocity Rewards, DOH!) and have been away all week with no www access. When I got home and saw that it had closed, I was sure I had missed out............but alas I am good to go.

No more manipulating arrival times for me......I bet my travel coordinator is going to be wondering what's going on when I don't question being booked on DJ!

Thanks Velocity Rewards.

As far as the "flash and enter" goes with QP, I reckon we are going to see this change with the new chipped cards anyway, in time.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Me thinks some of the clever people here are going to have to think of an acronym for all of us "matched DJ Golds".

How about DJ - GG's - Grovelled Gold! :)

They already have the setup actually! I tried entering MEL QP using an iPhone boarding pass. They wouldn't accept it just as is and had me scan the damn thing, took a good 15-20 seconds. Subsequently pulled out the cardboard BP when proceeding through to the J lounge.

If there's no anytime access, how else will they know you're flying? I guess the readers will be needed regardless. I haven't seen anything on the site or any SG's here using the NGCI mention what happens when entering the lounge.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

I tried this Tuesday last week but didn't send the PM (doh !). I'll try to send now but don't like my chances.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Well my match came through after sending an email to the admin@velocity rewards address on the 05/11. Shows it as expiring Nov 2012, so a good 2 years is fantastic!

Thanks Velocity, let the bookings begin!

:)

As markis10 mentioned, it seems to be a year on top of your current expiry plus another two months. I suspect pjohn's membership rollover date is September.

In my case, I'm valid until 31 July 2012 as my original membership year ends in May.

I haven't actually flown DJ yet (apart from a SYD-MEL return in 2003), but will likely try them soon. The main reason I got the status match was to be ready for when/if a decent domestic premium product launches :)

Tier matching qantas to Virgin

I saw a thread earlier on this so

thursday i asked at sydney virgin lounge mgr said call corp sales
Today I called Virgin Corp sales who said call Velocity 13 number
I called velocity 13 number and after 15m on hold I got someone with a bad accent i cld barely understand who told me this programme is not running anymore
So I wasted half an hour of my life getting the run around for nothing
Maybe Virgins Mkting dept can clarify whats really going on.
I fly 100 segments a year on qantas jetstar .

Hi Snoophound

I have moved your post to the appropriate thread that answers your questions on the process, as posted by Velocity Rewards the offer is now closed for the time being.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Virgins marketing department have already clarified that the offer is not currently open.

Re: Tier Matching at DJ - Process [Offer closed] - still matched

Well the offer is apparently closed. And much to my surprise my match came through today. I sent it in on 5th and 10th before the 'published closing'. I did not get a congratulation email or anything just a statement that showed Gold. Checked on my account and seems all solid.

Well you did apply before the offer closed, so I guess they took that into account.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Maybe that's why they closed it early, at the rate they take care of the back log it will be the end of November anyway.

Hopefully that saves some face with people who don't like early withdrawals.

Here's hoping they do a business refresh and introduce a platinum level. Then those who waited can suddenly be smug for while ;)

And what amount of status credits do you think you’d need for that - 70,000 or 100,000? I think without a proper lounge network, hard product revamp or solid international partners they’d be a bit premature introducing a higher level :p
