Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

In further on 1 July, TT357 from BNE down to MEL, the 0955 hours did not become airborne until 1418 this afternoon so A320 VH-VNG's arrival will be at 1658 hours, 278 minutes late.

TT518 (0915 hours MEL up to BNE, Tuesday 2 July 2019) took off at 1030 hours with suggested arrival for A320 VH-XUG at 1225, 55 late.

TT367, the 1115 hours BNE - SYD on Wednesday 3 July 2019 took off at a very late 1421 hours, so expected arrival for A320 VH-XUG is 1540, 170 minutes behind the timetable. This aircraft was similarly late this morning on TT357/TT358 BNE - SYD - BNE.

TT206 (0645 hours MEL - SYD, B738 VH-VUB) was not airborne until 0738 so arrival is 0852, 37 late.

VH-VUD, a colleague, is on TT445, the 0735 hours MEL - ADL so it will be at least half an hour late arriving (0900) as takeoff was at 0814 hours.

Tt254 (1645 hours Friday 5 July MEL - SYD) has been cancelled.

The 1825 hours early evening MEL - HBA, TT505 will depart at 2050, 145 minutes late.

Later on 5 July, TT669 (B738 VH-VUD, the 1625 hours CBR down to MEL) did not take off until 1957 so arrival should be 2050 hours, 195 minutes late. It must be substituting for a failed colleague as it arrived in MEL earlier today on the ex-BNE TT521 at 1716, 46 late and then operated TT668, the 1450 hours MEL - CBR, taking off at 1828 hours.

Saturday 6 July has TT449 (0915 hours morning MEL across to ADL) not having become airborne until 1012 so arrival for VH-XUH is 40 minutes late at 1050 hours.

Later on 6 July, A320 VH-VNH is on the 1255 hours SYD down to MEL Tt241 airborne at a very late 1528. Expected arrival is 131 minutes late at 1641 hours.

Northbound TT704, the 1205 hours lunchtime MEL - CFS is worse, with takeoff at 1605 hours for B738 VH-YVA meaning forecast arrival of 1756 hours, 236 minutes late.

TT214, the 0800 hours MEL - SYD on Sunday 7 July took off at 0919 with B738 VH-VUD, so arrival is expected at 1100, 95 minutes late after holding above Gunning.

The Sydney area has had some fog but it was not calm (wind wise) at SYD so not sure if this is why flights are delayed.

TT218 (0900 ex MEL) was airborne at 0950 with A320 VH-XUG. Expected arrival is 1125 hours, 55 minutes late.

In more on 7 July, TT358 (0915 hours SYD - BNE that did not take off until 1327) has A320 VH-VNG and should arrive at 1442 hours, 237 minute slate.

TT661 (1445 hours CBR down to MEL) was airborne on Sunday 7 July at 1621 hours so it should arrive at 1715, 80 late. Aircraft is A320 VH-XUG. Three posts above, one may note that at 1125 this morning, it was a predicted 55 late on a previous flight so delays have compounded during the day, not helped by (a) school holidays with all the little darlings slow to board and (b) gloomy weather in Melbourne and earlier fog in Sydney.

The 1510 hours mid afternoon MEL up to BNE, TT532, pushed back at 1645 with B738 VH-VOR. Arrival looks to be 1839, 74 late.

TT537 BNE-SYD diverted to CBR erlier today (A320 VH-VNG).

Great pickup Silvia. Subsequently, the plane operated empty - 'ferry' - flight TT8357 from CBR to SYD, taking off at 1151 hours and arriving on its ramp at 1226 hours. It then formed a punctual 1535 hours BNE - CNS, TT488. I did not monitor but there may have been a couple of cancellations elsewhere due to this unplanned diversion.

B738 VH-VUB is on the 1515 hours mid afternoon MEL - SYD Tt252 in the sky at 1621. Arrival should be 12729, 49 late.

Also, TT502 HBA-MEL (A320 VH-VUD) arrived at 16 56, 96 min behind. This further pushed back departure of TT417 MEL-PER, with a revised arrival at 19 50, 95 min late.

TT661 CBR-MEL (A320 VH-XUG) arrived at 17 24, 89 min tardy.

Also, TT502 HBA-MEL (A320 VH-VUD) arrived at 16 56, 96 min behind...

I believe the above aircraft is a B738 not an A320. It's confusing because of the mixed nature of the TT fleet.

The good FlightAware site refers to that HBA - MEL flight Silvia picked up on as 'TR502' and (by name) 'Scoot 502.' Does it know something we don't about the Tigerair name being dropped domestically just as it has been internationally for the Singaporean fleet?

While Silvia (dedicated as she is) and I won't have recorded every delay today, a quick count shows that at least five of the 15-string Tigerair (Australia) fleet have been badly late at some stage today. Sadly, this is too often the case (not that Jetstar is much better, and neither Qantas or Virgin Australia are particularly impressive either.

Imagine the headlines if a third of Sydney Trains' fleet was consistently (for most of a day) at least half an hour late. Yet these airlines are not the subject of much attention from the media. Some delays such as weather can't be helped - although high speed rail is far more punctual in most similar circumstances - but many airline delays are due to other factors such as aircraft failures as MEL_Traveller occasionally reminds us.

TT472 on Monday 8 July is the 1835 hours evening meal time ADL - MEL that took off at 1923 with A320 VH-VND. Arrival should be at 2059, 34 late.

Wednesday 10 July 2019 finds TT413, the 1545 hours MEL across to PER taking off at 1635. B738 VH-YVA should arrive 36 late at 1836 in the early evening.

Typical winds at 1730 hours at MEL were 57kmh but gusting to 70, the latter equivalent to 38 knots.

Later on 10 July, TT269 (B738 VH-VOR, the 1840 hours SYD - MEL airborne at 1938) should arrive in the southern capital at about 2058 hours, 43 minutes late. Winds at MEL have been gusting to 72kmh.

TT263 is the earlier timetabled 1720 hours MEL - SYD airborne at 1822 with arrival for A320 VH-XUG likely at 2019 hours, 84 minutes late as there was a lengthy hold in the Mt Buller area.

I am no meteorologist but 72kmh is pretty high for most Australian capital cities.

It's down to a single runway at MEL (east-west 09/27 is closed) due to the strong winds.

Later on 10 July, TT241 (B738 VH-VOY), the 1930 hours BNE - MEL airborne at 1957 (about 15 minutes tardy) is arriving at 2302, 67 late. So like a competitor QF flight, the bad weather has added about 55 minutes to the trip.
