Travel Insurance which covers COVID-19?

Has anyone used RACV? I'm comparing them to Medibank, they seem similar, with some higher/lower limits depending on the item.

Brilliant, thank you for the suggestion @hachoo - looks like Insure and Go are quite popular amongst the travelers here and on other forums so I'll have a look at theirs when I get some time to myself tonight. Going to book it as soon as I can given that I have the memory of a goldfish and will end up forgetting closer to the time.

Well went to buy the Singapore covid 19 cover today and they no longer offer it to Australians.
However Insure and go PDF now says covid 19 medical expenses are unlimited if a silver or gold policy. that is obviously sufficient but would that need explaining to immigration officials in Singapore or Thailand?
Will take a prinout of the benefits.

Like a few others, I've not read every page of this thread, as information atrophies, but looking at insurers' sites, the number offering annual multi trip insurance for trips of maximum 60 (or 90) days seems to have diminished. Then there's the added complication of finding one who offers unlimited COVID-19 cover.

It really is hard. Insure and go do offer unlimited covid cover medically but then don't offer cruise cover at all. plus for me having Haemochromatosis which has been treated with venesections now for 30 years plus my 75 blood donations before diagnosis and having had a knee replacement 7 years ago want to slug me an extra 170 dollars for a 2 week trip to SIN and BKK.
Quite a few others the covid cover is we will refund you what remains of your premium if you are diagnosed with Covid. That will work!

Once upon a time, I found a table of travel insurers that listed covid cover as well as the AGE LIMIT on the policies.
I foolishly did not note the thread location where it was. Given the ongoing interest for travel coverage after age 70 (we all are getting older?) can someone tell me where it was I found it?
I will try to start a new thread which can he updated as needed, to prevent others from needing to have excessive wandering....
Fred

Insure and Go has discontinued annual multi-trip insurance. At some stage it may be resumed, but no date is given on its website.

I am surprised given you travel so often, drron, that you don't want an annual policy for you and your wife.

I actually ended up getting an annual policy through Southern cross travel. Says unlimited medical cover for covid but won't pay out for repatriation if covid is the cause or for a new flight. But the age limit is 118 years. plus you can choose 30,60 or 90 day trips. So suits our sort of travel . as well cruising is included.

Many people bought annual insurance ? Was tempted to have a quick trip to USA on Thursday but ...way too difficult in post covid era to organise

Annual multi-trip insurance would have been popular for small business (including sole proprietors) so-called 'road warriors' who travelled extensively for sales or to liaise with overseas contract manufacturers.

There's a certain segment of the leisure traveller market (such as moi!) who highly valued it.

Are we 'post-covid?' Not according to many health bureaucrats.

One empathises, as quick trips at present may involve multiple rules in different states or provinces of nations, plus varying national rules. Compulsory mask wearing may be tolerated by some but it's anathema to many.

All reasons why I have put international travel on the back burner for the time being (still not renewed my passport).

But I am enjoying my refound interest in domestic travel (well apart from the recent meltdowns in SYD, MEL, and elsewhere).

We’re quite enjoying our current travels around the UK. Things are still relatively quiet - even though it’s the UKs “Spring/Easter break”.

Travel rules and restrictions have melted away since booking and actually flying. So it’s been pretty painless. Off to Germany tomorrow and will see how the last of the Euro restrictions are tracking.

The multi-trip option was a no-brainer for us. Having past the first hurdle to get out on this trip, we’re keen to start forward booking future travels. Alas, there’s not a lot of good value fares this side of the northern hemisphere autumn….

Southern Cross seems like good value for single trip and annual insurance.

I'm planning to go through them to get the unlimited medical coverage, including COVID (as yet undecided on single or annual).

Then by making sure I make the required spend to qualify for St George (Allianz) travel insurance as well, I figure I can choose who to claim through for anything that's not COVID-health related, depending on which policy gives the better coverage.

And I saw on 1Cover's site : "Note: all our policies contain an epidemic/pandemic exclusion which applies to all sections except for the overseas medical cover which is in place for coronavirus related claims." So as far as I can see, it's only the COVID-related health coverage that most of us might need to top up our complementary credit card travel insurance. I hope I'm right here - it's been so long since doing any OS trips I feel like such a newbie!

I'm finding Insure and Go to be the cheapest of the four policies I researched for my trip - CoverMore, TID and 1 Cover. I&G happen to be about 100 cheaper but have similar coverage and I'm really hoping I'm not getting screwed over...

Did you try Southern Cross? They seemed to be the cheapest for me, although I didn't try TID

I've happily used TID and Insure & Go in the past, but they didn't have very good covid cancellation coverage or covid change cover (ie if you need to buy new flights or extend hotel stay for longer due to covid especially if staying in 5 star hotel or flying J) hence went with Go Insurance ($20k out of pocket covid coverage). Most policies have unlimited medical for covid, so cancellation/trip extension coverage is what makes the difference.

I have a couple of international trips this year but found checking across multiple insurers it was cheaper to buy two separate policies one for Fiji and another for UK/US, than to buy an annual one that includes USA.

IME if you dont need US/South America/Africa then the annual policies work out cheaper at 2 trip mark, but once you throw in the Americas or Africa, need to do 4 international trips before the annual policy becomes cheaper than individual ones. YMMV.

Is that for annul multi trip, or single trip.

It was easy for me to rule out companies. We always used TID but they won't issue a multi trip policy for anyone 70 or over.
So switched to QF. They won't issue one for anyone 75 or older. That is a common cut off point.
So STC will sell me a policy even at 100. At the moment they will let me choose 30,60 or 90 day trips. Most others that sell to us ancients limit trips to 30 days.
