TravelPass with DSC offer (No Longer Offerred)

Done. New flight to NZ purchased with travel pass from previous 2020 cancellation. New flight cancelled by QF. Called to convert to new travel pass, with DSC, expiry now dec 2023 for bookings to dec 2024. Still have unused portion on original Travel Pass ( with DSC, expiry dec 2022).
ha damn, if i'd seen this earlier maybe I would have gone for this instead. oh well, 1k cash back in the hand is always better than anything else.

Glad I found this info.
I booked 3 business class flights to CHC for a snowboard trip and got the inevitable cancellation letter informing me of a refund to flight credit of $3000 which has to be spent in full or balance forfeited.
Of course to get a refund you have to ring and I gritted my teeth and first rang the Business Rewards number , which is not answered on sundays but !! You have an option for urgent flights which I used and spoke to Veronica in Auckland ( @ 8.50 pm AEST)
She was very helpful and offerred the DSC , 10% bonus value or ? Double points and suggested 2 days til the TP would appear.
I asked to confirm the expiry and she initially said dec2022.
I am not sure if this is a script they follow but on pressing she confirmed this is valid to December 2023.
Whole call took less than 7 minutes and only difficulty was dealing with my aussie accent !
A very painless experience !

My latest TravelPass (the actual credit voucher, not the initial eMail) just arrived, just over 24 hrs after I cancelled.
Check the expiry date !
I just had to ring back as only had a dec 22 expiry in the pass when I had pushed to get the dec23 exp.
CSO said there were 2 dates in tne system.
She sent a msg to check but I was cutoff before I got her name.
Stay tuned .

I had about a 3 minute wait (just a middling Gold here), the lovely lady said I can go ahead and give you credit and I said "A friend" mentioned a travel pass to retain the DSC's. She said yep no problem waited on call for me to get an aknowledgement email and generally very nice friendly and helpful. People always ask me why i pay more for flights on Qantas (not thats its always more) and this is why. When you need assistance that status comes in mighty handy. I tend to get some pretty good service from Apple also for the exact same reasons. They can see all the stuff I've bought on my account :-).

Qantas Pass = Travel Pass

Thanks. I didn't use it much, and not for a long time - but that sounds like Virgin's TravelBank? I know its too early (not thats ever stopped us before :)) but I wonder how it will work with offers like DSCs attached to particular credits.

I imagine given they are handing out DSC's with the current travel pass it shouldn't be an issue and the caveat seems to be you must either use all credits on the travel pass or pay for the entire fare with the travel pass. Thats really to stop people doing the old spend a fell dollars off the pass trick to get DSC's. I imagine the same rules will apply. I will be curious to see what tricks some people come up with. Will spending the last $5 on a travel pass entitle you to DSC's.....

I was also thinking more along the line of what does Qantas gain. Then I remember the hassle it was for me to pay for $2000 in flights to NZ with credit from $3000 Japan flight with the call centre. I suspect anything that reduces the call load on Qantas call centres will benefit them.

Huge gain for Qantas using the Qantas Pass. This is due to this being an actual form of payment in the booking flow (like AMEX/MC/VISA), where as the voucher method is just an old ticket number/booking.

My Travelpass just arrived in my inbox. Did anyones travelpass have the DSC's mentioned in the travelpass email? I can't see it anywhere in the email, but that might be the norm.

Yes I just had a bunch come through myself.

The DSC is mentioned in the "Opt In" email you would have received when QF initially did the conversion - it is in there rather than the actual TP emails.

I just received my Travel Pass from Qantas and the email doesn't mention DSC at all.

Is that normal?

The initial email does
Thanks for opting in to convert your flight booking or Flight Credit to a Qantas TravelPass with our double Status Credits offer.

But nothing in the pass itself once it arrived

Spent 2 hours on the phone waiting yesterday to find out what happend to over $750 of cancelled flights that I spent hours on the phone with Qantas 3 and 1/2 months ago. Nice person but she didn't tell me they weren't eligible for status match challenge flights even though I told her. Looks like I'm going to have to spend hours again !!!!!

Welcome to posting on AFF 🙂 What do you mean by 'status match challenge flights'? You mean the single booking required to have your current status extended (for certain status year expiry dates)? If so, if you have a credit with Qantas then any source of funding would be eligable to be applied to book and pay for a ew flight.
