No way in hell? JLanger holds public respect for how he played the game. And has runs on the board coaching.
Not sure Gillespie coaching over in UK for a decade is the best option in the current climate....certainly no disrespect to Dizzy (and would not say no way in hell). Would be fine with Dizzy, but reckon JL is the best option to hit the ground running and address the 'culture', which is above the 'coaching' at this point

Dizzy has experience across several different continents and structures now. Langer has coaching experience in Australia and has been part of the system for a while now that needs a shake up.

Dizzy is by far and large the best option if his contract has a get out clause.

Sky news now reporting that there has been a change of mind by David Warmer (he’s probably heard of Lehmanns presser as well as knowing about Bancroft and Smith and we will be making a statement. Not going to bed yet...

On now!!

No media management and a very clever pass off using the kids but still that doesn’t show similar mettle to the others.

Pretty poor just barging through with the kids.
His best show was to confront it like the others did and face a bit of music

Jason Gillespie is by far the best option if his current contract allows it.

No doubt he won't even get a look in by CA because he doesn't tow the line like some of the others.

Dizzy coached SA in the Big Bash.

Just use the sign up in MEL.
"Why cant the English get wine out of a bottle?
Because they haven't any openers."

Fair call....20/20...and again no disrespect to Sth Australian Dizzy, a legend.
My point is more that I see JL more connected, and cogniscent to the National team requirements right now,as in immediately, through both his coaching career, and also (more importantly in current climate) how he played the game.

I disagree 100%....he will speak to media just not when the media want him to speak. Did you see how distress his wife was?!

And they won the Grand Final this year.

Having said that I agree that Justin Langer will give the stability and discipline needed.

Hope Steve Smith can repair. He’s shattered. Warner - don’t care. That interview was harrowing. Shame his fiancée is in the US.

I think DIzzy and JL are the only 2 options (unless they go left field and throw Punter up there).
I wouldnt argue by far and large for either.
Both have claims.
I'd prefer JL, But either will breathe fresh air.
But who knows what criteria Sutherland and the Board will use.

He engineered that.....his poor family.
He has had 24 hrs to organise 5mins upon arrival with the media, which Smith and Bancroft managed to do.
Him pushing his wife and kids through the scrum and pretending to talk was an embarrassment. He should be ashamed.
If he gave a cough about them above himself he would have fronted in a media room and let his wife and kids out separately and peacefully.
No two ways about it, as the saga drags on, Smith and Bancroft are redeeming somewhat, and Warner is just perpetuating his descending image

That’s a good point. He could have entered without the kids. Why subject them to that. Because it suited his purpose. The team in SA must be so angry at how he’s broken the system of Cricket.

Steve Smith needs to develop resilience and emotional maturity, not because he cried but his life has been pretty much run in a rarefied and fake atmosphere with few challenges other than play cricket. Most of us have been through so much more at his age. But now that has come to a crashing end.

I’m getting cough from someone in the UK. Does anyone know a well known English cricketer who has cried on TV. I don’t think it’s something to be ashamed of

My recollection is all English captains:

David Gower definitely, perhaps also Mike Gatting and Nasser Hussain IIRC

Got to try and find the video. No troubles finding Kim Hughes:

Well, the investigation determined it was his idea and that he showed him how to do it. Not sure how he can excuse it.

And Lehmann has finally quit.

Johannesburg: Darren Lehmann has quit as coach of the Australian cricket team.

An emotional Lehmann announced on Thursday that the fourth Test against South Africa would be his last in charge.

He said he had made the decision to resign after watching Steve Smith's gut-wrenching press conference in Sydney as well as Cameron Bancroft fronting the media in Perth.

"The feeling is that Australian cricket needs to move forward and this is the right thing to do," Lehmann said.

The reason I like Dizzy for the coach now is because of the disconnect (and his experience in other countries), whereas JL has been in the setup for a while now and I think will just bring alot more of the same from what they want up top, which is a major part of the problem.

Maybe....he's not helping himself though
I'm happy with the implication of the CA charges which pretty clearly define who did what out of the 3 guys.
And coming out at the airport behind wife and kids is just soft, regardless.
Its not going away.
BTW, the carry on re his wife by the SA crowds, and allegedly players, is a separate disgrace.

I do get the impression JL is cut from a different cloth. Have to be to have been a tough, short-cough opener grinning back at 150kph+!
Get your point though, and as I've said, no problem whatsoever with Dizzy......he would be a great breath of fresh air, and has more than done his dues in the most professional sub-national comp in the world over many years

Just read the BCCI statement on cancelling Smith and Warners IPL contract for 2018.

"The Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Wednesday took cognizance of the developments in the ball tampering incident involving Cricket Australia contracted cricketers – Mr Steve Smith, Mr David Warner and Mr Cameron Bancroft," a BCCI statement said.

"The CoA, in consultation with BCCI Acting President Mr CK Khanna, IPL Chairman Mr Rajeev Shukla and BCCI Acting Hon. Secretary Mr Amitabh Choudhary, has decided to ban Mr Smith and Mr Warner with immediate effect from participation in IPL 2018.

"The BCCI hopes that the cricketers participating in the IPL hold the highest regard for the Spirit of Cricket and Code of Conduct for Players and Match Officials.

The last bit is a bit of a laugh, mentioning IPL and highest regard to spirit of cricket in the same sentence when we know how many shady things have and happen in that competition.
