Turkish Airlines Status Match

I took the jump and applied for a status match, and was duly approved. Status is till 30/06/14 which is great if and when flying *A.

In my opinion the TK J Lounge at IST is probably the best J lounge that I have been in worldwide.

I sent my request off and have now got a shiny new loyalty card, complete with Star Alliance gold till 2014! Score :)

I'll be there next month so I hope you're right! :D

Here's a sneak peek;

Need somewhere to store your luggage securely; here's some lockable glass cabinets:-

After storing your luggage, let's play pool?

Here's one of the many buffet bars, and I just LOVE cakes!

And then sit back, relax and watch a movie in their (small) cinema room:-

<Several purdy pictures>

*Walks to the corner to salivate in an unseemly manner* :shock:

Will be my first trip with lounge access too. My initial feeling of disappointment with a 12 hour connection at IST for the return leg is rapidly dissipating.

I send an email requesting a status match against my QF Platinum and got an email tonight saying I was matched to Elite status, not bad a two day turn around and showing in my account as valid til June 2014.

Got my match from QF Platinum to Elite as well tonight - similar turnaround time (couple of days).

Of course no match to Elite Plus, though looking at the differential benefit it doesn't seem like it's a lot different (though in saying that the qualification / requalification criteria almost reflect the small differential).

Status good for two years. Hopefully I can make use of it in that time.

Interestingly, you can purchase status miles from TK. A maximum of 10,000 status miles per year can be purchased; the full cost of those 10,000 status miles is EUR 300. To be eligible, you must have at least one flight on TK or the Star Alliance credited to your account.

I didn't get an email but just looked up my membership on line and it's showing as Elite :D
Hope it's worth all the Mickey-taking I've put up with from my family!
They now think I'm an AFF junkie :p
:mrgreen:

Mine just came through today :) happy I get *A gold for 2 years!

Very likely to be posted via iPhone or iPad :)

Finally got my QFF WP card in the post yesterday, have dispatched this off this morning, fingers crossed.

Will they match QF Gold?

I don't think it would work. This is response I had got:

"Please be informed that only Star Alliance Gold, Skyteam Elite Plus and Oneworld Emerald members have an opportunity for Status Match.

Therefore we are sorry that we are unable to meet your demand positively."
