Turkish Airlines Status Match

Sweet! When was your match approved?

Submitted on the 11th July, received the email the next day. I did email them PDF scans of my Platinum card, and my QF account summary page and also activity statements from my last QF anniversary date.

I haven't received a pack yet, unless it takes longer to deliver to Brisbane rather than Sydney.

Either that or TK stuck me with the "fly us and you shall receive" thing. :-|

I was matched at the end of June and haven't got my card yet, and in Sydney, might have to follow up on it.

If you want to match to SAS and need an HK address, happy to provide mine, and then my parents will forward the package to me and me to you, just send me a PM. anat0l, I think, did this a couple years ago to get BD status I think.

My dad did the SAS match as he's in HK and got the card and tags in the mail not long after.



Thanks for the offer Sam. I've only just come across it, but it would seem that SAS has ended the offer.

Why have I been missing out on all the fun?

Time to request a status match but unfortunately my QF Platinum card expired in May 2011!

Correct, although the card is another story. I do not remember receiving a new card last year or this year and check-in staff and lounge staff keep reminding me to call customer care.

Thought so.. definently worth getting the status match. Im looking forward to trying SQ products!

I sent my email Sunday afternoon, got the reply email just now -

Elite card status match has been provided and your membership has been updated as '' Elite Card '' level.

We would like to be honoured to see you as an Elite member for your future flights by Turkish Airlines.

Worth the effort to get the card replaced as it looks like the status match is still going. And *A Gold seems rather easy to keep, IMHO.

Economy?

If you are referring to business class then I hope your experiences are a lot better than my underwhelming experiences. Have another flight on SQ business coming up in October.

How are you looking to retain it?
I am trying to get to the Milan and Singapore Grand Prix. So I am currently putting the final touches on an itinerary that will be SQ MEL-xSIN-BKK and then TK BKK-xIST-MXP. That should get me more than the 25k needed in one year for a non Turkish resident to retain Miles & Smiles Elite (*A Gold). And I will get to sample the acclaimed IST lounge!

Got my card and tags in the mail yesterday. This has been very efficient I must say! Only thing I noticed was that when accessing lounges you need to pay with miles for a companion, interesting concept to keep the lounges quiet. A nice inclusion is the companion fares in J... Interesting interesting

I have sent my WP material to them twice now and no response. My view is poor outcome!

Did you check your account online?
I didn't receive any confirmation from them either, and no card or tags despite my status match being approved.
I have a flight coming up in a couple of months on OZ so I'm going to send them an email request for the card so I have it for that flight.

Sick in Turkey? Don't forget to credit your hospital bill to TK:

I wonder if the entrance to the hospital has a Turkish Airlines logo next to it and a slogan 'Gastroenteritis? Appendicitis? Frequent Flyeritis? Don't forget to show your Miles&Smiles card to your surgeon before you go under'.

If you paid the full amount for heart surgery, I think you'd get just enough to have a decent J or possibly F award :p Plus, I wonder if your travel insurance could cover it.

*knock on wood*

Haha. That's great.

Can you imagine: "Sir. Sir. Can you hear me? You've been in a car accident. We're taking you to St Joseph's Hospital".

"No, no. Take me to Hisar. I get frequent flyer miles . . . And how's my wife?
