Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

All of my friends and most of my extended family think the same way.
I know 1 person who voted yes for every 10 people who voted no in the Scottish independence referendum.
I don't know a single family member/ friend in Scotland who voted for Brexit.

Different strokes for different folks. My dad is a proud Scot - he voted Leave .. as did all the others in the family that I've spoken with.

Figure for Japan is two elections out of date, they don't get close to that now. Last one was 52.66%.

Regarding Princess Fiona as she's known (or was known when Alex Salmond was Shrek), I think it's a bit of both ;)

I prefer the uncanny Jimmy Krankie similarity-apologies to those who won't get the cultural reference

Yeah - after any election about half the people hate you. In this case, not an election but the hating lot are a good chunk of your own party! Would have been tough to walk into Parliament as PM with no experience in the place.

Hmm I suspect that the vote was as much of a surprise to Boris as it was to the financial markets and the poor poppet has cold feet

On the other hand, he must have known they could win in the week before, as at least one poll suggested it, just not the mainstream pollsters. And his wife wrote an article saying how she was a remainer, and Boris was not in the least surprised that he won.

Alas, he had his partner in crime lined up, and then Groves did to him what he did to Cameron (serial defector). So Boris keeps his powder dry, and when May struggles to get the deal done he comes along at the next election and takes up the baton.

Anyone who observed him after the London bombings knows his ability to inspire the crowd and lead recovery - he might come in handy yet.

Agreed. Politics is a "dark art" the long gamers always win .... just look at John Howard.

For the economic implications of Brexit the new Moody's weekly report is interesting.Cant link to it but google it's title-"Brexit of Champions."
It says the economic repercussions of Brexit are more like the Y2K fear than the demise of Lehmans. Also suggests that the world economy is in a fragile state and any unexpected event may trigger a collapse pointing out trade is going downhill. With exports from the US down 6.5%,EU-4.6%,China-7.3% and Japan 9.0%.

Also good news for the UK economy.Tourism may boom-
