Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

Another facepalm article from the media...

Brexit fallout: Expats prepare for pain and red tape

And again the peanut gallery (99% of which had no say in the matter, and don't understand the local issues) call people who voted out 'lemmings', 'morons', 'wrong', 'racist' , 'xenophobic', 'poor', 'uneducated', 'misled' etc etc etc.

yeah. The only reason Aussies have a passport is so they can live and work in New Zealand :-|

If someone has an Aussie passport via birth, and only uses it to work in NZ ... well, what does that say about the 'citizen'?

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

And really, I'm looking for the reasons why Australians are voting Pauline into the senate. Surely those muttering about Brexit who have zero ties to the UK apart from being in a Commonwealth country should be moving onto the next rent-a-crowd/ populist target!

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

Mal, it's pretty clear you're just as biased as the people you're criticising. But thank you for at least being articulate about it.

Of course I am biased. I still can review and understand other views. Unlike many here, I live in the UK, and I actually voted. My views were clear at the start of this thread, and have been expanded over the course of this thread.

I live in the UK

Fair enough. I don't particularly appreciate the suggestions about how people use their passports, though. I happen to have four, and have used them as life has dictated. As is my right.

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

What a fabulous week, if Jonathan Lynn and Anthony Jay had written a script to match actual events they would have been derided for being hopelessly unrealistic. :)

How grateful the British public must be for Michael Grove. Despite not wanting the role of PM he is prepared to take it on for the good of his country. The five MP's who turned up to support him at his campaign launch, which was up against the service for the fallen at The Somme, must also have thought so too.

Meanwhile in Labour land democracy is becoming all quite confusing. The vast majority of Labour MP's have no confidence in Mr Corbyn and want him to go, in order to protect him the hard left fee paying members of the party have encouraged another 60,000 hard left peeps to pay GBP3 to join the party so that democracy is not run off the rails by those pesky MP's.

Nicola Sturgeon is rapidly becoming the "funnest" MP and party leader. One has to admire her sheer ignorance of the world outside her mind and her doggedness in pursuing the absurd. It must have been hugely amusing to be a fly on the wall with the Spanish leaders who I suspect might not be so keen to negotiate with a "breakaway" state. Gotta love the old Basque separatists!!! Another stand out Sturgeon moment was asking the speaker to declare the SNP the official opposition at Westminster. Yes a week when The Scottish leader could have shown true stateswoman like qualities was given to cheap stunts and gimmicks.

......and yes Mr Blair I also think that The UK needs a true statesman to lead the negotiations with the EU...but I suspect our opinions vary considerably on who that might be. I currently have the Teletubbies ahead of Mr Blair in my list.

I wonder what delights next week will bring?

I think it's fair to say that if you are a citizen of a country you have the right to live and work in that country. But the articles about whinging Aussies who now feel their British passport is 'worthless' because they only used it to work in Europe - well they should get citizenship of the country they want to live in. Otherwise be proud to be British (and maybe even think about contributing to your country!)

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

Ha .. I can imagine a retort with a sign starting:

"35% of the electorate is no majority ..."

Or 35% is even less of a majority.
maybe 36% trumps 35%-but probably shouldn't use that one.:p:shock:;)

Sorry mistyped ... sould have put 37% ...

Maybe another tack ...

"64% of the electorate did not vote to Remain ..." ...
