Where does it stop? best out of three?

It's over when someone sings of a particular gender, age and particular body mass. :D

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

Google and EU wasn't the only thing going viral after Brexit. It turns out brexit was always in the script-
Brexit vote result makes Yes, Minister EU video go viral

Don't you love how people are suddenly discovering Yes Minister? It's been there all along people! I quoted this conversation on about page 5 of this thread well before the vote. Truer words were never spoken!

James Hacker: Europe is a community of nations, dedicated towards one goal.Sir Humphrey Appleby: [laughs]
James Hacker: May we share the joke, Humphrey?
Sir Humphrey Appleby: Minister, may I?
[sits]
Sir Humphrey Appleby: Let's look at this objectively. It is a game played for national interests and always was. Why do you suppose we went into it?
James Hacker: To strengthen the brotherhood of free Western nations.
Sir Humphrey Appleby: Oh, really. We went in to screw the French by splitting them off from the Germans.
James Hacker: Well, why did the French go into it, then?
Sir Humphrey Appleby: Well, to protect their inefficient farmers from commercial competition.
James Hacker: That certainly doesn't apply to the Germans!
Sir Humphrey Appleby: No, no. They went in to cleanse themselves of genocide and apply for readmission to the human race.

Another quote from that episode (I wasn't aware of some of these stereotypes!)

James Hacker: You know what they say about the average Common Market official. He has the organising ability of the Italians, the flexibility of the Germans, and the modesty of the French. And that's topped up by the imagination of the Belgians, the generosity of the Dutch and the intelligence of the Irish.

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

Now is the time for considered and measured politicians in Europe and The UK to work out how the UK extracts itself from the EU.

it means free trade agreements, sensible movement of people arrangements, and intelligent legislation. When you step back and think of the consequences it is actually rather simple.

Sadly the UK parliament is occupied by buffoons and the EU is about as honest as FIFA. :(

It also means 17.4 million still beats 3 million.

Re: UK - in or out of the EU?

What didn't like the outcome so will keep having a vote until we do.

Shouldn't happen, but if it did, it would be true to EU form - similar to the Irish when they voted against one of the treaties (Treaty of Nice, from memory)...... and were made to vote again!

It means that 3 million people don't understand democracy.
The majority of people don't understand democracy. Especially our democratically elected governments in Australia that get into power with less than 50% of the vote.

Referendums such as this one decided on 50.01% majority vote where voting is not compulsory will leave a lot of doubts. This is not end of the UK and definitely not the end of the world but there is a chance that 51.9% got it wrong for the UK. There is also a chance that 51.9% have put another nail in the coffin of the EU. That will have a major implication for countries that rely on being part of the EU.

And I still hate party politics. One day we will move past this flawed system and elect/nominate people to be on councils that will make unbiased decisions for the good of the people not their pockets.

It means stuff-all. I wonder how this petition, calling for:

"Government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60 per cent based [on] a turnout of less than 75 per cent, there should be another referendum".

... got turned into a call to have another Brexit referendum?

"Implement a rule" WT? ... when talking about any future vote. Or do governments now get to implement 'rules' against anything certain people don't like, retrospectively?

... I guess these are the same people painting the 'Leavers' as dumb.

BBC political correspondent Iain Watson says the petition has attracted a lot of attention but has no chance of being enacted, because it is asking for retrospective legislation.

Our correspondent says some referendums do have thresholds but those clauses must be inserted in legislation before the vote so everyone is clear about the rules.

You cannot simply invent new hurdles if you are on the losing side, our correspondent says.

Scotland threatens to veto Brexit.

When Ms Sturgeon was asked by presenter Gordon Brewer whether she would consider asking the parliament not to back such a motion of legislative consent she replied "of course".
She added: "If the Scottish Parliament was judging this on the basis of what's right for Scotland then the option of saying look we're not to vote for something that's against Scotland's interest, of course that's got to be on the table."

Over 39000 people in the Vatican had signed petition for overturning brexit-
Second referendum petition: Inquiry removes at least 77,000 fake signatures, as hackers claim responsibility for 'prank'

Quite frankly the behaviour of many Remain voters is showing why Brexit won.

Similar behaviour was shown by those on the losing side in the Scottish Independence referendum.

Sour grapes happen no matter what. IMO the behaviour of a few does not reflect the thoughts or wishes of the vast majority of those on the losing side.
