Unable to link Complimentary lounge Invitation

They need to attach the pass to a flight segment booking. Then when they arrive at the lounge they scan their Boarding Pass and the system tells the lounge agent that the passenger should be admitted to the lounge.

Is this done somehow through the recipient's FF account?

Yes, the recipient goes to this page:

and there they should be able to link any passes to eligible bookings.

I wonder if this a recent change by Qantas re the school holidays. I transferred a pass to a friend about 2 months ago for our flight last Monday (1st day of school holidays). He linked the invitation way back then and it apparently appeared on his booking (so I was told but he's not real QF site savvy). Strangely, it's not appearing on my transfer history. I don't even know if it got taken off mine, I've got a few yet to be used.

At the lounge on Monday the agent said it wasn't appearing on the booking but then said it was and let us through although she appeared confused. I didn't ask, we just kept walking in.

I now wonder that if you transfer and link a booking out of holidays for a flight that's within the holidays, what happens?

I've seen this before, and I dunno what causes it. I've transferred a pass to someone on AFF, which resulted in the pass just disappearing from my list? But every other pass I've transferred stays on my list and is just marked transferred...

I note the page now doesn't list which lounges aren't accepting passes, just a general statement saying well if you can't link that means no go.

I did see a ADL flight was available for linking, which implies ADL is apparently accepting them again. Maybe.

The complimentary longue invitation Qantas provide is such a joke. If the lounge isn't busy, for some reason you have to stand around like an idiot and take a minute to find the email to show the staff even though you have linked it to your flight, god knows I could just photoshop one and they'd let me in no scanning or anything. If you aren't lucky and its full like it was back in April, sorry but the longue is full, but we won't be giving you that longue invitation back.

Best advice if you are using one is don't plan on getting into the longue, just hope for a lucky guess.
Agree - the lounge dragons in the Sydney Business Lounge had great pleasure in denying my entry on Tuesday evening, though I went thru the same procedure as you..

I went to the Adl lounge 24hrs ago, explained the issue regarding the linking, the person at the counter was going to let 4 of us in (we had 10 lounge passes between us) until the supervisor checked it was a AirNz booked flight number on Qantas. They didn't say they had stopped letting people in, they told me there was an IT issue and were still letting people in for valid flights at the desk if they showed the passes

I have been trying to transfer passes to another AFF member with no luck, I guess its still blocked for the school Holidays. Worked a few weeks ago as I transferred passes to my sister and she linked them to Jetstar flight, I still saw them listed in my account with a transferred status, she was able to access the QP fine in BNE and SYD.

That is an improvement - call centres must have been getting way too many calls about this. They could have worded the message a bit better but then this is Qantas after all.

I did think this was self-explanatory !?!

I think they should have changed the wording form "We may suspend ..." to "We have suspended ..." to show why the transfers are failing. The use of "may" suggests that they retain that option and not that they have already implemented the suspension.

Agree - but linking the lounge passes to flights has been an issue with QF long before the current school holidays, since at least last November when I had the same issue PER-ADL-PER.

I linked a pass recently, and ADL was not allowed to be linked.

I have an upcoming BNE-LRE flight that I'd like to use my lounge pass on, but I guess BNE is one of the lounges at capacity that isn't accepting lounge passes

I spoke too soon, for the first time in months I now have the ability to link the lounge pass. I'll have to post here first, next time I have a problem with the QF website :)

I am still unable to link to any of my flights which are all departing from Sydney. However it does look as if transfer capability is back.
