Just realised I didn't even receive an acknowledgement email after applying online. Is this normal?

Applied about a week ago and not heard a peep.

Yep, this is a Macquarie bank product and I had exactly the same experience with their Platinum card - nothing for weeks then the card arrived out of the blue. As I'm an existing Mac Bank cardholder I'm hoping the process for this card is straightforward. I'm just waiting for the current month's points to post before I ditch that dog of a card. I have access to my veda file which is the only reason I know that Mac Bank checked my file - after submitting the JQ application I didn't even receive an email acknowledgement.

2 weeks down, and they haven't touched my file yet.

Applied over 4 weeks ago, got the call in the 1st week for pay statements. Emailed them through, nothing since.
Rang them, got the cant confirm or deny cough re the application.

See you later Macquarie/Jetstar, Bankwest are going to look after me with the Qantas Plat Mastercard.

Bankwest Qantas Plat Mastercard is my everyday card. Great product - straighforward 1 pt per dollar earn with very few exclusions (business expensestravellers cheques, gambling and cash advances are the only ones that spring to mind), no foreign transaction fees on overseas purchases (inc. internet purchases) $100 overdraft (not that I ever need to access that) 200k p.a. point cap and a low $149 annual fee. Only downside is the sign on bonus is only 8k QFF points.

No foreign transaction fees is good for me, one less card in the wallet, the GE 28 Degress will be gone.
Dipping out on the bonus points with the Jetstar card is not good, if the card ends up turning up, will use it for the points then cancel.

I'm dropping my Qantas CU plat card and my Mac Bank plat and picking this up to replace the Qantas card. Only advantage of this card after getting the sign on bonus is 2 pts for QF flights booked on the card and no fees when booking Jetstar. I'm keeping my Bankwest QAntas Plat and my David Jones Qantas Plat (2.25 points per $ in supermarkets and servos) which cover my needs quite well, the other cards are only for the bonuses or a particular feature that my BW or DJ cards don't offer.

I just called to confirm they actually received my application. They have, so no contact whatsoever doesn't mean nothing is happening. Guess they are just slow!

That was interesting...

About 18 months or so ago I got the Jetstar Platinum... used it for a year, canceled when they wouldnt waive the annual fee.

About a month ago I applied for this Jetstar Platinum again.... about 10 days ago I got asked to give idea and a payslip.

Today my Jetstar Classic Mastercard rocked up (I didn't meet the credit criteria.... though, please keep in mind that I have had a payrise since the first time I applied for the Jetstar Platinum and have been in the same job since!)..... They didn't have the decency to tell me this before sending me out the credit card though!!!

I ring up and ask what promotion I have... $89 annual fee (inc. QFF program charge), 5,000 sign on bonus points and 5,000 points for spending $5,000 by 30 September (at 1 point per $2!).

I told her then in that case I would not be activating my card as I signed up for 30,000 points and the Platinum card. She said "I understand, will there be anything else"? I said no, she said thank you for calling.

Please keep in mind that this is the only credit card I've applied for all year, I've got a payrise since my last approval for the SAME credit card I applied to..... my given credit limit this time was $5,800 (instead of $6,000)...

Credit card companies work in strange and mysterious ways.

Still nothing so I called again.

Got some rubbish about a large number of applicants blah blah blah excuses excuses. She then asked me to email my pay statement. Can't tell me when or how long it will take to actually get back to me.

Disgraceful service. When will I learn to stop falling for the points from Macquarie :)

Late last week I was contacted to verify some income details. That only took them a month. No communication before that or since.

I applied four weeks ago and not heard a thing since I lodged my application. Mrs Smithy also applied and heard nothing.:?:

I don't understand this company.

After not hearing anything for a long period of time, I followed up. At that point they asked for my salaried income statement. A week later, I followed up again as I was getting annoyed at how long this was taking. Spoke to a manager. Assured me my application was being escalated and a top priority. Another week later they call for proof of rental income.

This is two weeks after proof of salary and one week after my application has been escalated. I'd hate to imagine how long it takes to request information for plebs who haven't been escalated!

Further to my previous post. As at late last week, I received communication from the credit card provider. I complied with their request by: A/ provide a copy of income and B/ I attended my local Post office to complete the "100 point identity check". Still seeems to me to be long and drawn out process?

Hi All,after applying in early July and a couple of calls the card was in the mail today(7 weeks!!!)

Experience with Macquarie Bank so far is matching my previous poor experiences with Jetstar! Good to see the two brands fit so perfectly together.

Seems you have to be proactive in contacting them. Applied in mid July. Credit file accessed next day. Contacted by Mac Bank mid August to request copy of pay slip. No response, so called them up. They have been inundated with applications and are incapable of managing, apparently. That I can forgive, but the lack of any proactive communication to that effect is concerning.

I expect I'll have 3 days to meet the spend requirement for the bonus points ;-)

I was thoroughly fed up with them when they called me last Monday letting me know I'd need to go and ID myself at the post office. I had previously been onto them about this taking forever, not requesting all the info in one go from me etc.

I let them have it on Monday morning. Well not quite. I politely told them I wont be wasting my time. I've never had to go through such nonsense previously and won't be doing it now.

I mentioned that I applied over a month earlier with the advertised time period for approval being 10 business days. I told her that they figure out how to give me the card without me wasting further time and that I want the period to earn the bonus points based on spend extended a month (since they are so slow at getting the card approved). I told her if she can't do both and give me in writing the extension by 5pm close of business to simply cancel my application.

At 3pm that day I got a call back. The lady let on that it generally isn't an issue if you already hold an account with the bank. At which point I told her about my Macquarie Platinum card. She said that would suffice. I questioned why she didn't have this info already and was told they can't look into it for privacy reasons.

In the end they agreed to my demands and I have in writing that I have till Oct 31 to spend the $5k for the bonus points. The card has allegedly been sent out express post, but I'm yet to see it.

TL;DR - complain about the time taken and request an extension. Suggest false and misleading advertising too. YMMV

I applied for this card a few weeks back and had my credit file accessed the following business day. Since then I have heard nothing. What number are you all calling to get information from? I assume Macquarie since they are the ones who accessed my credit file.
