sm2817,

I understand what you are saying but what do you expect them to do when they have a forced a/c change and the new a/c has less of your type of seats :?:
My question remains. As the discussion has established there was likely to be less J seats in the replacement configuration what does the OP expect them to do :?:

I think change of planes to a smaller one is a reasonable reason for an upgrade to be withdrawn. But that's probably the only one.

Ok, I think I might be facing something similar tomorrow
I'm going to LHR, had requested a points upgrade. Nothing until T-22 when a wait list for P segment appeared. Now the J segment has gone, I'm seated in F but online check-in will only allow me to select a seat in the J cabin
I haven't seen this before, to cap it all no points have yet been deducted :!:
I phoned QF and was assured that subject to operational requirements etc I am confirmed in P on their system.
I think I'll take a screen shot just incase.
Fingers, toes and everything else crossed.

Yes, that's certainly unusual in terms of my experience. I've had a number of points upgrades J to F on QF1, and I've immediately been able to select online my preferred seating (1A to 5A), and the points deduction had been processed at the time I was SMS'd of the upgrade.

Please let us know of the outcome.

I thought if the upgrade is successful, then you can't do OLCI?

Will do, your experience mirrors my previous ones.

No, but I'm 50/50 on those anyway. It's the lack of the points deduction that's the most unsettling thing. I'm usually never able to OLCI for some reason but can usually get as far as the seat selection part showing the upgraded cabin. This one is a little weird
So far the upgrade is sticking and there is no sign of the J segment at Manage My Booking.
Of note I also have EF alerts set up for my original seat in J and P awards and neither have found anything. IME the Seat Alert is usually pretty quick and accurate.

It might just be slow to be ticketed. Apparently they 'reticket' you in the upgraded cabin and use points as the payment. I've had one stuffed too on arrival at the airport but 'ticketing' were able to fix it and off I went at the pointy end. Good luck!

I think it's all good now :)
The Upgrade Fairy must have been on a bit of a bender last night.
She didn't text me until 0615 this morning :p :D

I got that text message too. I sincerely hope for your sake that your upgrade is still there when you check in.

May not be relevant in this case, but also make sure your PIN doesn't change between request and the flight departure time. This can mean they are unable to debit the points and you'll miss out on the upgrade :(

Points have definitely been debited but on check in at SYD I received a BP for 11A
No-one at SYD can do anything about it.
Upgrade is showing as Confirmed in P on MMB seat 1A. There is still no J sector showing. They have told me to ask at the F Lounge in MEL when I arrive as they can't see what the problem is. It's looking decidedly dodgy again.
