Is USDM a cost effect way to travel within North America? If not, is there a points program that is?
QF is actually pretty good in NA.

+1 on this, I was going to jump and say Avios but bcworld beat me to it. Also very good in Australia, e.g. SYD - MEL is 4500 points and given its distance based similar costs in US for short(ish) hops.I'd look at Avios for US flights as well (and for Aus domestics and Aus-NZ flights).

I'm just irked I didn't stock up at $1.45 to the GBP when they were offering me a nice bonus!
Still there's a current offer and I'll probably go for it I think.
The reward flight saver is such great value.
Yes, as I indicated TG has changed the schedule of 472 for the summer table table, late Mar - late Oct. It now has a horrible 3AM arrival time into BKK where it connects to nothing to Europe and when most of the lounges are in the middle of their night closure. Currently the winter schedule shows it returning to 5PM departure but watch this space!
My partner got an email last night to congratulate her on becoming a USDM Silver Preferred member. She has not flown on US or AA in the last 12 months, but does have a healthy USDM balance all from purchases.
I'm interested to see what happens when I do TG F SYD - BKK arrive 0300 and connect to BKK - ICN J at 0700. Lounge only opens at 0600 I thought. No buggy ride I'd say!

i suspect they will implement the same measures as they did last time with an 0400 arrival. they will open a joint lounge facility to handle transit pax from that flight. last time they opened a business class facility.
the first class lounge opens at 5. the spa at 6.
asiana have announced overnight that a380 service to lax starts on 30 july. Presumably it will replace the 747 service...so it probably is oz suites!
It will temporarily operate routes to nrt, kix, hkg, bkk and perhaps others from june.
