A friend of mine received a 'targetted offer' from US, Buy Miles and get 80% bonus. Did anyone else receive one?
Mine was 90% bonus on my daughters accounts, they have not bought any points whereas we have so that may be what was targeted. (Or maybe not, 4 accounts hardly enpough data points).

Personally 90% won't cut it for me, hope this isn't a pemanent change. What I really want is a 100% bonus on transfer offer, even 75% would beat these buy offers.

I got the 100% bonus

We have an exclusive offer just for you

Buy miles and get a 100% bonus*

We’ve specially selected you to receive a 100% bonus. All you have to do is buy miles May 1 – 15, 2012, and you’ll automatically receive your bonus. This offer is exclusively for you and is non-transferrable.

Just checked my mail and got the offer for 90%...Looks like different bonuses for different people?

Nothing for me (yet). US were a little slow last time I recall in getting the offer out and some people got it a few days later. I need a few more miles so fingers crossed this comes through.

Interesting. I've not received an offer. I probably differ from most people in that the 155k miles sitting in my account at the moment are a combination of earned miles from J flights and transfer of miles from SPG.

I have 121K sitting on my account and I still have 100% bonus offer. It only just arrived though so you may get yours soon.

Have any of your miles originated from "proper" earning and / or SPG transfers, or have yours only been purchased? Be interested to see what mix.

Apart from purchasing miles that's all I have:

DIVIDEND MILES TOOLBAR SEARCH BONUS
E-REWARDS MILEAGE TRANSFER

That could be it then, targetting people they know will possibly buy as they have in the past... no big deal for me, don't have a need at the moment anyway! I still have 50k SPG points sitting in that account that I could transfer if I really wanted to....:!:

Brought for the first time last offer with points.com - I received the 90% bonus - so I think my points total is only 20k - so I think they know I might buy more to build it up

My husband got the 90% bonus email, I got nothing.
We have purchased the same number of miles at the same time - go figure:confused:

I got the 90% bonus email. My wife and kids who have their own DM accounts got nothing.

Just a quick question, I am thinking about booking a flight AKL > PVG > LAX with a 10hr+ layover at PVG in J.

Is it true that there is not a lounge in PVG for star alliance J passengers?

If this is the case does anyone know if there are any decent lounges with a shower that I can buy a day pass for?

I will be a delta sky club member at the time of the trip also if that helps.

Cheers,

Received the 90% offer. Still tempting buy trying to hold off until we get back from our first US Airways trip in July. :D

Cheers,

There is a lounge at PVG for star alliance. It is the FM (Shanghai Airlines) Lounge (yup - still called that even though FM is now part of China Eastern and Skyteam).

You will require an invitation which will be given with your boarding pass, or can be obtained at PVG.

The lounge itself is ok, nice views, but limited food. There are rest areas and three massage chairs and some slumber chairs if you want sleep (in small cubicals). It can be very crowded at peak times. There is free wi-fi (which works quite well once you manage to sign in!)

If you have a 10 hour layover I would be looking to do a transit without visa (if you don't already have a chinese visa). This allows you to leave the airport provided you hold an eligible passport.

From there I would buy a round-trip on the maglev train (with speeds up to 431km/hr), then connect with the underground to go down and have a quick look at the Bund. Stop at the Peace Hotel, or the Waldorf Astoria (1920's restored long bar) for some drinks and a bite to eat, then reverse the itnerary to get back to the airport.

should be fine. my friends have done this with their child in fact... flew with mother on outbound and father on the return. the PNR was linked accordingly so the child was not travelling 'alone'.

just to be double sure, I would confirm with Thai that one adult can travel with two children if the children are very young...

Got confirmation from Thai that it's fine. 1 Adult with 1 Infant and 1 Child is ok :)
