What routes/how do AirNZ fly to Europe? Never thought about them.

Im talking about instances like taking CA to PEK and then ANZ to AKL. Very rare, but I know people who have done it.

These are extremely unlikely situations but I'd rather have a full list of 'you'll probably only ever be offered half these airlines' than an incomplete list because 'that airline probably won't ever come up'.

If I'm travelling to Europe and have various cities I wish to visit there would be a number of possible cities I'd be happy to fly in or out of which increases route and airline options.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

penegal, we've got LH A380 on our way back in April next year from NRT. They may or may not have refitted the planes with the new seats by then. If not, who cares... business is still business! I know I can still sleep on sloping easily enough.

Nice, enjoy the LH 388 :)

As always YMMV.

For me, I know that it is possible for me to sleep on a sky slope (or similar), but I find it challenging, and I have numerous memories of sleepless red-eyes in J. There is a point where I find it easier to sleep in the seat as a chair (yes, I know this might be strange to some). Naturally this is much more of an issue on red-eyes vs day flights.

If given the option of lie-flat vs sky slope on a red-eye, I would consider lie-flat the main deciding factor (even if it was on a lesser airline). I have flown UA BusinessFirst on the 744 in the past for this reason.

But yes, business is almost always better than economy, so I am very spoilt with my work travel policy.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

My ranking would be:

Swiss
Air NZ (BP II)*
Singapore
ANA (New Staggered J)*
Turkish*
Air NZ (BP I)
Lufthansa (New J)*
Thai (Old J)
Lufthansa (Old J)
Air China*
Egypt*

Saying that, the ones that I've asterisked I have not had a chance to try at all (in any way), so this is me guessing here. I guess you could say this is the order which I'd like to try those products.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

sorry but you are wrong.

Well that's good. If you find seats, that is, which means that it isn't down and out.

Saying that, how much difficulty (and how far out) did you have in finding LX F seats to ZRH. I've found finding seats to ZRH is harder than from ZRH.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

I just plugged in some random dates to KVS, & found availability FRA-PEK in J on LX.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

HI All - looking for some opinions.

Overnight flight FRA-PEK - what would you book?

Option 1: LH A380 with slopey J class seats (read a review of these on ausbt and was far from impressed)
Option 2: CA 77W with full flat beds in J (read plenty of praise for the seats but not a lot of good things about the soft product, especially catering)

Any advice....thanks!

Take CA on the 77W. LH seats is not all that good.

LX J is not so much of an issue. Always been around, but you need to search for +1... so if you need 1 seats, search and find 2 seats available. If you need 2 seats, search and find 3 available... then US will be able to book the required number you need. (It's some sort of glitch).

there is no doubt they are far more scarce than they once were, but if you are very flexible, it is not impossible. I agree that it is harder ex-ZRH too, but again, not impossible.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

Quick heads up: OZ are rolling out a new F product on their 777 aircraft, similar to a suite. Found the info on a Boarding Area blog: Asiana introducing new first class suite - One Mile at a Time

Only on a few routes to start with (and only one longhaul route, ICN-ORD). The product doesn't look too appealing at first glance (rather plastic looking), but if you're looking to try a different kind of OZ F experience, it's worth consideration (if you can find a reason to fly to or from ORD, or happy to try it only on one of the other two shorter haul routes). Apparently the new product will sport the largest TV in the sky at 32" (which doesn't appeal to me much as I don't watch a lot of TV and often go without the IFE except to put the standard map program up).

The food and service on OZ is pretty good in my opinion; an experience from my TR [post=624119]here[/post].

On a similar vein I'm looking to possibly book something like MEL-BKK-FRA/CDG (TG + TG A380) then come back IST-MEL next year. I'm being given either the option of going IST-FRA-BKK-MEL (TK, TG A380, TG) or IST-PEK-MEL (TK, CA). I reckon I might be a bit sick of TG J after 3 flights and would really like to try TK long-haul but want to avoid CA (not given option of IST-BKK-MEL TK + TG at this stage). Is this a dumb idea to take a cough airline in order to try a 'good' one or should I be sticking with a solid product like TG all the way? The TK and CA flights are both sort of overnight with the time differences.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

PEK - MEL is literally the only option I have for getting to MEL on a particular date. Smit...you're aware that the flight makes a stop in PVG?

Oops sorry I meant it's IST-PVG-MEL, not PEK.

Can they route you to Sydney (TG or OZ) and your make your own way down to Melbourne?

Just arrived from ICN to SYD yesterday morning on the new product with the suites. Had booked J but they obviously flew the new aircraft without selling any F so was in the first row up front.

I didn't realise that it was a new product until we got off and was talking to someone while going through customs.

I actually thought it was quite good, but then I haven't experienced any other F suites so have nothing to compare it to... TV was big - actually a little too big for my liking as you don't need 32" when you're that close to it!

Was the TV a Samsung?? ;) ;)

TK business on the 777 is supposed to be excellent - great food and full flat sleepers + personal chef thingy. I would try that as an option coming home. I've flown CA plenty of times. Mostly it has been very good. The only 'bad' time was 772 aricraft with 42' pitch combined with some mediocre food. But even then it wasn't that bad.

You should be able to TWOV in Shnaghai for up to 48 hours. Would make it well worthwhile if you haven't already used a stopover.
