Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

My friend has completed the overnight transit on two occasions in the last 5 months heading to the USA. If the price is right, I'd recommend the Westin Chosun which is a designated bus stop for the airport bus ;) it is a long ride though - heavily dependent on traffic - but the coach is super comfortable 2-1 configuration with Y++ recline. I have did the overnight transit last year and that bus took about an hour and the Westin was perfect for me, as its only minutes to the night life, street stalls, food, restaurants, shops.

TG provide them ;)

And then I read yours LOL

TG do not provide pyjamas in business.F only

I am pretty sure we got a pair on the BKK-ICN leg we flew on ....... (or maybe I was a tad over 0.05 BAC) ;)

Or wait, I recall my girlfriend wearing a pair so must have been from the previous flight we had in F.

Oh well, anyway Hi from the St Regis New York and my FREE night here (current room rate is $695++) :p :p :p Off to find some KFC; infamous korean fried chicken down at K Town now.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

Thank you to all for the very helpful relies (especially Alan and Mel). Looks like I am able to transit through Korea quite easily (both there and back) so will take a couple of days in Seoul on the way back as a stopover. I prefer to stay in Hyatts where available. Has anyone stayed at the Seoul Hyatt (I know there are two) and can make a comment?

OZ is allowing me to fly out from CDG which is great. Two questions from those who have flown OZ (as all flights will now be on OZ):

Do you rate it? (most seem to); and

Are there any issues with infants on board in J? Dont want to end up in the poor situation experienced by Shayne with the TG aircraft issue.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

Hi, I googled Daily deals on both the net and also on US div miles without a hit?
Can you advise site please?
REFERRAL REWARDS - THE NUMBERS
5 Dividend Miles are earned for every dollar you spend with Daily Deal.
500 Dividend Miles are earned on your 1st purchase.
500 Dividend Miles are awarded to you for every person you refer once they make their first purchase. Please note all miles are accrued in your Daily Deal account until you make your first purchase at which time they will be transferred to your Dividend Miles account.
500 Dividend Miles are awarded to your referrals once they make their first purchase.

The trick is to get a very cheap deal, I first signed up about a month ago when there was a $4 deal and have been waiting a while for a cheap deal and then last Friday (and again on Monday as it happens) there was a $5 deal for a magazine. So I bought for myself and then referred each of my 4 family members who have accounts who also bought the deal. So all up $25 for 4625 points between us (5 * 1st purchase bonus, 5 * 25 points and 4 * 500 referral fees). Cheap Points AND extends the clock for each of us on the 18 month countdown.

If interested happy for anyone to use my referral code Today's Daily Deal brought to you by The Beer Connoisseur Maga... (disclosure: I get 500 points if you do so of course I'm happy for you to use, but you lose nothing by doing so!). Then you just wait for a cheap deal and also of course refer to family/friends.

Note: as with all these coupon site you are buying a coupon, many of these don't get used (and don't need to be used to get the points) but for a bit of karma you may want to google shelters etc. who can find a usage for these items and send there.[/QUOTE]

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

HI All - looking for some opinions.

Overnight flight FRA-PEK - what would you book?

Option 1: LH A380 with slopey J class seats (read a review of these on ausbt and was far from impressed)
Option 2: CA 77W with full flat beds in J (read plenty of praise for the seats but not a lot of good things about the soft product, especially catering)

Any advice....thanks!

If seat to you is most important, then go with CA 77W. I haven't flown on it myself, but if a fully flat bed is important then that settles it.

You can always fill up big on the lounge food in FRA before you go (it'll probably be comfort food but it's one way to hedge your bets on board). When you arrive in PEK, the breakfast can be treated as irrelevant until you find something on the ground. (Alternatively, see if you can convince the crew to save an "express meal" that would've been served for supper, and serve that to you for breakfast).

I didn't find the LH seat that bad back in Dec although the small lounge in Fra was pretty ordinary. I slept ok
on the seat although I had a few glasses by then.

Im actually heading back to the Uk on Weds with SQ and LH on there A380's so will see how I sleep this
time round.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

I know it's probably impossible given how many different products each airline uses in J and F but is there any generally accepted ranking of *A J and F products anywhere? It would be most useful where 2 different *A airlines fly the same route (i.e. bcworld's example above) and also where you are given the option of two different routes to your destination (i.e. BKK-LHR vs BKK-ICN-LHR)

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

ex-BKK take Swiss in F if you can

There's no common ranking per se (and it does depend on the exact product you get - a handful of them are spawning a few variants).

Everyone just tends to do it by experience and sharing thereof. (And I like to write TRs for this purpose, too ;))

Most of us here probably cover a broad spectrum of the *A products (and I can talk about a handful); some you can find on the respective website, or SeatGuru (though the latter is sometimes inaccurate). When it all boils down, the number of *A carriers people will fly "often" probably are counted on 1 or 2 hands, so not too many products (and any smaller distinctions are usually smaller or obscure zones).

It is also a case of personal preference.

Some individuals prefer a certain service style, or have had a good or bad product experience, which may influence their decision.

FWIW true lie flat tends to trump most other concerns as that is the difference between sleep-ing and slope-ing

Good F&B and/or soft product is probably next on the list.

Re: Daily Deal today $4.98 for 500 points

Not going to happen. It's gone the way of the dodo just like LH F.

Rare as hen's teeth, eh? Ironic that the converse still has sporadic availability on it. (More so than ZRH-HKG or ZRH-NRT, but currently using the older 343s rather than 333s with new F product).

Word on FT was that had dried up.... so interesting if you're able to find some!

penegal, we've got LH A380 on our way back in April next year from NRT. They may or may not have refitted the planes with the new seats by then. If not, who cares... business is still business! I know I can still sleep on sloping easily enough.

I haven't been looking, but it'd be interesting if that was the case. I'm glad to have flown them twice, then! Even if it was only on the old F product.

Maybe it's a Miles and More thing, too. Perhaps wising up to too many US DM redemptions ;)

For those flying in J, I've heard LX J isn't a bad product at all. Fully flat seat, decent food, J lounge in ZRH is fairly nice. Amenity kit - not much better than SQ J, but that's probably the only downer.

Ah, OK. Yeh, since your trip it's pretty much dried up and I believe it's due to M&M being clamped, as you say. We looked for options for ZRH in LX J from NRT but found zip, zilch, nada!

I found the catering in the FRA LH Senator Lounge to be just a smidgin above the SYD QF J Lounge, but well below the SYD QF F Lounge (haven't been into the QF SYD Int J Lounge, but l presume it's around that level). Pour your own beers/drinks, hot options were sausages and some other finger food and a cold meat/cuts/cheese section.

I honestly didn't think it worthy of a F Lounge badge.
Nice views and decent staff levels.
Lounge was clean and tidy with plenty of room.
Internet speed was also pretty good, speed test result below.

The FRA HON lounge however, well, Anat0l, you know all about that.

I guess these days with USDM F it's just get whatever you can given Thai and United seem to be about the only F that consistently comes up?

I would be very interested in compiling some sort of basic arguable ranking of J long-haul products to the ever-popular Europe if it's possible though, given there are only a limited number of likely ways of getting there from AU on USDM. As a very rough starting point are the following the only realistic possibilities to get to Europe in J on USDM and, excluding likely availability, could be considered a starting point for a very rough order?:

Singapore
Asiana
ANA
Air NZ
Thai
Turkish
Lufthansa
Swiss
Egypt
Air China

I'm interested to know what I should jump at and what I should avoid (where given the options).

Swiss is far too far down that list. And I'd question the automatic assumption that a lot of people make that SQ takes the #1 spot.
