Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Share/Gift miles promo question.

Me and Person 1

I share/gift 20k miles to person 1

Person 1 shares/gifts 20k miles to me.

Do we then both get 40k miles? (For a price of course?)

Am I missing something?

The share promo is for a 50% bonus not 100% so 20k shared becomes 30k.

Thanks for the pick up BC world, I didn't pay too much at attention since it was a 'gift/share' promo. I only do straight bonus promos.

I am just wanting to help out one of cove's friends. The friend has 100k miles, and wants to fly to LHR, J.

120k miles???

Depart 11th Sep, return on 11th Oct (return is firm, latest is 11th, can move earlier).

Had a look on ANA.
Getting their is tight (I suggested leaving a few days earlier), coming back isn't too bad. (*side question, has anyone else noticed that availability isn't as good (open) as what it used to be?)

This is what I have found.

I tried to buy points using 4 different credit cards and each one was declined. I emailed the US Divided Miles people but they never responded. Did anyone else have trouble using their credit card and/or have you any tips for next time as to which card to use?

Why did you email DM, its likely your banks that are the issue, ring them to tell them your doing some overseas transactions. DM use points.com for the transactions.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Sanchdog had your account been open 12 days before you tried the payment on US Air DM. That was my starting problem for my two sons accounts.

That a pretty long layover in Beijing on the way over. On CA expect a very comfortable fully-flat bed, but don't expect anything else to be spectacular.

Have a look at beta.awardtravelr.com to see if there are any other options - you can choose one carrier for the way there and another for the way back....

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Thanks cove, no they hadn't been opened for that long. Thanks for that clue. Next time I won't leave it so late so that I have time to iron out any problems. Cheers

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Isn't there availability not to go through China - BKK or SIN?

was the card declined or the miles just didn't show up?

for accounts less than 12 days old you can still go through all the motions, and your credit card will have a ore-authorisation for the total cost... just it will never be processed... and you'll have to wait for the authorisation to drop off the card. can tie up a fair bit of credit.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Thankfully it was the former and not the latter.

in that case you should check with your bank in Australia... see if it was them who declined the card. it has been known for points.com to also decline cards... then you need to ring them and get it unblocked from their system. which can take time.

Thanks Mel_Traveller, shall do

I should be better at this but can someone kindly check/confirm this simple itinerary is OK?

SYD-xBKK-xZRH-MAD//SPU-xFRA-xMUC-xBKK-SYD

All transits are less than 24 hours.

Should be OK and would be 120k in J, 150k in F (or whatever random other amount they come up with ;)).

Availability quite hard to get on TG especially if in F these days.

If availability is hard to get on TG then we're all doomed! Can't say I've noticed that...if anything availability on FRA<>BKK is better than it once was and F seems easier to get than C...based on any recent searches I've done. Same goes for BKK<>LHR - F seems more readily available.
