US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Just had my first foray into Expert flyer and see this for TG 475 01 Oct, it looks like row 2 in F IS available(?)

EDIT: can't post the EF graphic, but it shows some white seats. Should I call USDM back?

Seats might be available for purchase...that doesn't mean there are award seats available.

I can only see whY award seats in KVS & AwardTravelr - Searching across all possibilities to make your frequent flyer miles work for you. I just looked at E/F but it won't show TG award availability under 'awards & upgrades' tab so I think you might've clicked on the 'Flight Availability' tab which will only show you regular classes for paid fares eg F7 A7 P7.

Ok thanks, I'll leave till tomorrow to look again and then pay for it. Did you get your flights back?

What's worse...

Feeding the agent the flights you want and then being put on hold for the desk....

Or

Having the agent trying to construct an itinerary MEL - GUM and refusing to take previously fed flights.

Ugh.

None of this would've been possible without the help and intelligence I have gleaned on AFF - thanks so much.

Just put my first ever booking on hold for the dreaded GUM for Sept. Is there anywhere I can see it as I'm very keen to verify what I think I booked? I'm hoping that an F seat will open up BKK - SYD before I have to pay USD149 before midnight 11 Feb. But, I'm not sure how to check if anyone could help me plse?

SYD - BKK TG 476 F (overnight)
BKK - HKG TG 600 F
HKG - TPE BR 870 J
TPE - GUM BR19 J destination 3 nights
GUM - TPE BR19 J
TPE - HKG TG 601 F (stop over 6 nights)
HKG - BKK TG 601 F (over night)
BKK - SYD TG 475 J
Does TG supply & pay for overnight hotels in BKK ? ,or is it up to passenger ?

I just phoned on Skype and got though straight away. have now paid for the flights and all F and J except the BKK - SYD which I'll keep an eye on and hopefully upgrade and if necessary pay the UDS150 change fee. Cost all up 40K miles and USD199.26. She asked if it was a 100K points itinerary, but I said I think it's 40K to Guam and she went off and checked and came back and agreed. All easy.

I was also given seats in 2E on the TG flts and 7A on all the Eva flts.

I was sure that I'd originally been given J BKK - SYD, but not when I got the PNR.

for passengers to make own arrangements.

you can log on to the TG website under 'manage booking' and change your seats. Probably want a window.

If you wanted to connect directly to HKG directly after arriving on TG476 that would be possible. TG is not going to pay for your accommodation should you choose to stop overnight because you want to take a flight in F class the next morning.

Remember you may only have until March 31 to change an existing booking as US will be leaving *A on this date and may not have access to award seats to make changes.

Just looking at Thai Airways site ROYAL e-booking - my trips

Wanting to check out some seats - it does not recognise my USDM booking ref. Do I have to call USDM again to get a number? They did give me another bkg ref for the Eva Air flts. I'll try that now.

The BR bkg no worked just fine and have nice looking 7A for all my BR flts.

Someone wrote a good trip report on a few days in GUM, where they stayed etc but I can't locate it (in last 4 weeks or so). Does that ring a bell w' anyone plse?

I wrote some general comments and answered some specific questions when I was there 2 weeks ago. I'm currently finalising a detailed TR with photos that should answer any more questions you might have.

Looking forward to it!

Ugh.

Eventually but took 4 calls for it to finally happen.

Call one. 2220 AEST & told Agent A in Winston-Salem NC that for some reason my pnr had been cancelled but SO's hadn't. She rebooked my flights but couldn't get GUM/NRT/PEK/BKK all on 09 March so I asked if we could keep the GUM/NRT on 09 Mar then fly NRT/PEK/BKK on 10 Mar instead which was okay.

I asked if I could quickly double check online once she'd ended transaction (to avoid simultaneous changes to the pnr) & all my flight & dates looked good. She then went & amended SO's pnr to match my dates then when I checked his booking I noticed that suddenly the BR flights BNE/GUM/CTS that had been in the pnr 10 minutes before were suddenly missing.

When I told her that the said that "the flights must've been cancelled because it's coming up as an illegal itinerary" & I'm thinking "no, that's the response you're getting when you're trying to end transaction when there's a massive surface sector between BNE & CTS after you inadvertently cancelled the BNE/TPE/CTS flights".

Anyway they were all reinstated & she put me on hold while she went to calculate the taxes. I'd been on hold for ages when I looked at the Skype session on my phone & the call had ended abnout 2300 so as it was now 2330, for the last 30 mins I'd been listening to fresh air.

Call two. Called back & spoke to Agent B again in Winston Salem & explained that I had to bookings all set to go that I wanted to pay for & ticket. Gave her SO's pnr & she asked which US DM account points were to come out of. Gave her the number & she put me on hold & said won't be a moment.

Instead of the silence you get when you are 'on hold' I got all the various US DM promo spiels & I worked out I'd been flick passed back into the reservations queue again. Obviously too hard basket for Agent B.

Call three. Well technically still call 2 but Agent C in Phoenix AZ answers the phone & I explained what had transpired & she apologised & said she could only handle USA & Canada bookings to she would have to transfer me to the international section. My patience was being tested to the max as it was after midnight by now & I had to get up at 0330 to get ready for work.

Call four. Again still technically call 2 but now Agent D (Zanie) in Phoenix AZ who does the international award bookings. She was super efficient, said that it would be 30K points each plus USD191.80 taxes & booking fee USD50.00 so total of USD241.80 pp. Didn't even refer to the rates desk, took payment, & tickets have now been issued & made it all so easy. All done finally by 0030.

So initially a bit of a hassle but looking on the bright side, if I hadn't got the runaround I might've ended up with someone else who went off to the rates desk & canned the whole itinerary. I'm thinking that's possibly how my booking got cancelled in the first place. My pnr was the 2nd booking made & the one they would've had on the screen when they initially referred to the rates desk & were told it was over on mileage even though I'd told them to still hold it in the meantime & we'd re do some of the flights.

Made my first US DM booking yesterday - Oz to Europe in F.

SYD-BKK TG J (no F available)
BKK-FRA TG F
FRA-INN LH J (Tyrolean operated)
INN-VIE OS J
VIE-SZG OS J
SZG-FRA LH J
FRA-BKK TG F
BKK-SYD TG F

150k miles + $322.98 + $50 processing fee

Disappointed that my first SYD-BKK was in J (no F available), so I thought I'd just keep a look out to see if anything opens up. I used United.com because awardtravelr wasn't working for me.
Not long after my itinerary was ticketed I did a search for F availability and nothing came up for both SYD-BKK flights in F on that day.

Just then I had another look and there is availability (yay).

I ring up, ask about the change and get told straight up there is a $150 fee because it's been ticketed. Then get told F isn't available anyway. Sigh.

What to do?

Oh, FWIW my booking above was done on the second try because the first agent could not see any J or Y availability on any of the flights on the FRA-INN segment for the day I wanted. My second call was done without a hitch
