US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Recently booked for my fiancee to attend a conference in San Antonio (so dates and destinations not flexible)

PER-SIN (SQ, Y) (not a really long segment and enabled a quicker trip)
SIN-ICN (SQ, J)
ICN-SFO (UA, J)
SFO-SAT (UA, Y)

SAT-SFO (UA, F)
SFO-ICN (OZ, J)
ICN-BKK (OZ, J)
BKK-PER (TG, J)

This came to 120k miles instead of 110k, not sure why but just wanted to get it booked rather than argue over that. I would have liked to avoid an overnight wait in BKK on the way back even if that had meant the last leg being SIN-PER in Y on SQ but unfortunately that availability dried up from when I was first looking at it.

You couldn't get OZ from ICN-SFO?

Oops.. see you did get it on the way back... good one.

120 must be wrong... we are doing SYD-BKK-ICN-SFO-ORD//DEN-YVR-NRT-PEK-SYD and that was 110K.....

technically SWP to USA should be 110/140. They may have decided to charge the 120K because of the SEA to USA route.

If the OP wanted they could ask for a review and get the miles refunded. Even on promo that comes to about $175.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am quite comfortable letting it go, as the overall deal is still very good (economy flight options for the dates are in the $2300-2600 range) and like to keep my dealings with US call centres as simple as possible.

A simple trip MEL to LHR in late September, open-jawed with the surface segment being a Eurostar trip London to Brussels so that we can check that city out and give the finger to about $600 worth of UK departure tax:

MEL-BKK TG462
BKK-LHR TG916
....
BRU-BKK TG935
BKK-MEL TG461

All in J

Total cost: 120K points plus US$170.15 in taxes, charges, fees etc each

Incidentally when the agent read out the standard passages about issue conditions she stated that the change fee was $250 - presumably a rise over the former $150?

Nope.

It used to be $250, reduced now to $150. They just quoted the old figure. Some still do, I just agree politely and move on :)

I just wondering does US airway ever give out itinerary or e-ticket as I have called US airway up twice and yet to receive the iterinary. I have called individual airlines up and confirmed the seat. I need an itinerary to apply for Visa, is there a way around this?

You can retrieve the itinerary by logging on to your dividend miles account and checking your bookings.

Sometimes
this will not display, the workaround: look carefully in the address bar of your browser you will see the date is one day off. Manually change this and hit enter and your itinerary will diplay.

It is normal for US not to send a confirmation email. I think you can also request one via your dividend miles account.

Thanks guys! This worked!
U guys rock!!!

I found a better return flight so I just changed my flights this morning. Now I'm flying:

TG PER-BKK (J)
TG BKK-ZHR (F) Stopover
LX GVA-JFK (J) Destination
OZ JFK-ICN (F)
OZ ICN-HKG (J)
TG HKG-BKK (F)
TG BKK-PER (J)

Total Cost: 140 000 miles + $270 taxes + $150 change fee (per passenger)

3:40 layover in Seoul
14:45 layover in Hong Kong
8:45 layover in Bangkok

Due to the F flights that I'm taking, I'll have access to F lounges both at arrival and departure
I'm particularly looking forward to my long 8:45 stopover on the way back in Bangkok. Its going to give me and my +1 some quality extra time in the Thai 1st Lounge!

I just booked my first trip, using 50k miles purchased in the 100% promo before the per mile rate went up. I also picked up 10k miles in the Grand Slam for a few dollars so the overall cost is not much more that $1500 which is great for peak season (Christmas / New Year).

TG MEL-BKK (J) Stopover
TG BKK-FRA (J) scheduled as A380
LH FRA-JFK (J) Destination
LH JFK-FRA (J)
TG FRA-BKK (J) scheduled as A380
TG BKK-MEL (J)

Total Cost: 110 000 miles + $190 taxes + $50 booking fee

I was quoted 90k miles but corrected the agent because I didn't want to risk the itinerary being cancelled at a later date.

EDIT: I should have thanked (almost) everyone in the other thread for their input and particularly the OP for unselfishly bringing this to our attention.

Well done, and I like seeing simple but effective routings. There's no point in flying around the world just for kicks, and then when shi* hits the fan, that everything falls apart and gives you a quasi-heart attack.

Good work on above booking, when are u travelling? I am struggling to see availability on BKK-FRA:(

BKK-FRA is 27/12 and FRA-BKK is 9/1. For TG availability I find that Expert Flyer is pretty good (for business awards it's Z class). What dates are you looking for?

Thanks. I did contemplate long winded routings and layovers but decided that given NYC is so far away that it made sense to maximise my time there.
