Re: Announcing our New Velocity Frequent Flyer Program

Congrats as well. As someone asked/said...now to see if we use them! I fly HKG a lot and may finally try Virgin Atlantic for a change, as there is more incentive now than before, although I find it hard to go past CX.

Re: Announcing our New Velocity Frequent Flyer Program

Just noticed my Velocity account has been upgraded to platinum:). Match request sent in by email on 25/8/11 (day of announcement) at 7pm AEST....so took 2 hours short of a full week to process.

Thanks Velocity...first DJ flight will be in Oct to the AFF do in Cbr.

Summary is that despite my matched status not being updated in my profile, and at least one check-in staffer having not seen a temporary card before, I was treated to all the extras

Right, that's it! Now I'm ready for war with all this talk of comped freeloaders getting cards! ;)

Going from Stusers account, I've seen an opportunity. Someone scanned their temp Plat on AFF here somewhere, so I can photoshop up a colour matched card using my new/old silver card (let's face it silver...platinum, what's the difference)........If I can't get DJ to send me my gold card, I'll skip that and go straight to Plat ....after all, homemade is always better than commercial ;).

Seems all too easy, I'll just rock up like I own the place and state WP matched!......why then do I get the feeling the lounge angels will just say "forget the P part, you're just the W"

Disclaimer - before anyone flames me........I'm joking! (I'm not really a W )

Re: Announcing our New Velocity Frequent Flyer Program

Just checked my account and I'm now a VFF Platinum. No confirmation email yet and probably nothing in the mailbox at home (I'm still at uni!), but that'll probably take 1 - 5 business days.

Now I'm really on the dark side..........hey, come on - VFF Platinum is a black card, too.... ;) :) Just gotta find some excuses to fly and fly VA, which will be hard since money is going to be a little bit of an issue at the end of this week...

Re: Announcing our New Velocity Frequent Flyer Program

I've got a reasonable number of day trips coming up. Pity they're all to Paraburdoo so the status match wasn't much use to me.:(

With the regularity they cancel those flights, it/they may become overnight trips.:(

Re: Announcing our New Velocity Frequent Flyer Program

Here's to hoping Virgin Australia start service to Tom Price. :D

I can just imagine the B717 taxiing in under the rail bridge and passengers disembarking next to the dump truck and walking accross to the Shell Roadhouse to claim their bags.

In all seriousness, I spoke with crazydave about this, and the problem is RTIO own the airport at PBO, and Virgon can't use it as yet. Even though Skywest and QF do.

Well that sucks, I applied for status match for Gold at 1pm AEST of 25 August and at the moment I am still on Red!

Guess who hit Platinum tonight? :p

Awww... thanks LiamR, but you didn't have to lay out the welcome mat :). Thanks VFF, it only took a week, which is pretty good considering the truckload of match requests they must've got in the email box. And you can't process these things using a robot, so whoever was the poor sucker at VA HQ processing all of these manually must be going bananas right now. (They could use some barista lounge coffee, yeah?)

:D :D

Well mrsdrron has been matched to Plat. But AA doesn't work as quickly - maybe they are unsure as plat is only their middle tier at AA. Doesn't really matter - mrsdrron will probably let me in as her guest.

Obviously not all Status Matches were created equal!

Six days and still waiting. :-|

Are you guys saying that if you get a Status Match in the lounge, you are given a temp card and tags. But it doesn't appear on your account?

Or that it is only valid inside Australia?
