Are you guys saying that if you get a Status Match in the lounge, you are given a temp card and tags. But it doesn't appear on your account?
Or that it is only valid inside Australia?
Hi LiamR, that has been my experience so far.
I applied via email on the 25th, receiving the confirmation email back from Virgin.
On the 28th I physically went into the Melbourne DJ lounge, and "status matched" with my QF Gold card, and got the DJ temp Gold card with my DJ velocity number on it and a pair of swing tags. Went into the lounge as a freeloader.
On the 29th I went back into the Mel lounge, accessing with the temp card, again as a freeloader.
On the 1st Sep I actually flew DJ. Used temp card to access Sydney lounge.
BUT all this time my online status still says Member.... (I actually got an email from Virgin on the 31st with the status match as subject;l I got all excited, but it was just the same acknowledgement that I received on the 25th.... pffft).
Also, the temp card specifically states you'll get the full list of benefits once the real package arrives in the mail, and that, as you surmise, you only get the domestic benefits of priority lanes, security and lounges. The temp status is not on your boarding pass.
So, despite being able to gain entry etc to lounge, despite having a temp card, it would appear that you won't get any of the points bonuses for flying, which is a bit of a shame.
Kinda makes me more inclined to book my DJ flights only if I get successfully properly matched online.... Anybody got a different experience / view?
