Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Match Promotion - Closed 30 Sep 11

Put in my email based request for Gold on Friday 26th, no update yet, account still shows as 'Red'. Got WP status with QF yesterday, so popped into The Lounge at Melbourne today and got the temp Platinum card and tags. I had a quick look around the lounge too, which was pretty empty at 8.30 this morning, very impressed though, really nice atmosphere and a lot of light. Looking forward to my first Virgin flight as a Platinum.

Not sure whether this is a good sign of growing corporate/ FF business OR a sign anytime access gets abused to hell on a Friday afternoon.

I received the confirmation email that my status match was successful. And when I log into Velocity it shows me as platinum.

I booked my first flight on Virgin for about two year a trip on Sunday. I haven't been home since I got the email, so not sure if there will be a platinum card waiting for me. The booking has my velocity number against it and it shows up under view my bookings.

If I don't have the card when I fly on Sunday can I still get in the Virgin lounge? Will my status show on the boarding pass?

Your card wont be at home waiting, but a temp one can be sought at the lounge with no issues, just flash your old one and say "I have been upgraded" .

Applied today (about 4 hours ago) on my family's behalf - 3 x WP. Emailed in PDFs of our QFF Summary pages. All of us were no-status Velocity members. We are all already showing as Virgin Platinum online.

That was quick!

(and quite happy to share a bit of love with Virgin) - those 4 x upgrades are very tempting for MEL-PER runs - admittedly I've had a 50% op-up success rate with Qantas on that score to date.

It creates a time lag as they research/investigate the program, as I alluded to in my earlier post. This holds up the processing of that status match.

Research and investigate AA Advantage As read in an earlier post they have a list. I reckon AA Advantage just might be on it

For what it's worth. I haven't recieved any email saying Welcome to Platinum, even after earning it.

It does display on my account however. Didn't display on my boarding pass this morning, and I couldn't be bothered getting a re-print at 6am. I'll see what happens on my flight home tonight.

Mine changed the day before yours I think Liam and I haven't received a welcome email either. Mind you I haven't got my Luke Mangan cookbook for my previous gold status either! The platinum gift better be good...

I really do hope DJ reps are passing on the feedback from this status match to higher up the food chain. A good concept, which I've stated I do agree with, but it really is a bit of a fiasco from the viewpoint of regular DJ flyers.

I've been half tongue in cheek raising the card release stuff up whenever I can sneak it in, where genuine Gold and Platinum loyal DJ flyers have not received their upgrade cards (in my case now a month down the track) but manage to get an outdated card instead....of course the flip side of half tongue in cheek is half genuine annoyance and I've mentioned it so many times to really try to ensure DJ get the message......you know the age old cliché that goes something like "its easier to keep customers than win new ones".....

But it seems to have gone from bad to worse with comped "yet to prove loyalty" flyers getting free signed cookbooks and the like yet genuine DJ platinums not even getting a welcome email.

That's incredibly poor form in my estimation and has really tarnished some of the good work done recently.

DJ, please remember some of your FFers have been raising concerns about this status match from the beginning and so far we are indeed seeing negative issues impacting us as a direct result from the status match. Don't learn your lessons about the aforementioned cliché the hard way, please. Remember, the QF WPs and SGs are not the only ones that have choices.

Ran into some of the Velocity reps in the MEL Lounge earlier this afternoon, what I said I hit Platinum the day before. He told me I should recieve my card within the next week. I was under the impression it was 4 weeks away.

I would agree with some of the comments that have been made. Its a week on and I'm still waiting for my status match to update after sending the email, where as qf platinums seem to be jumping the q of the VA loyals.
I'm generally a big fan of VA but I have 6 months of business paid FIFO to book, and time is running out, if VA doesn't come through then I'll swap and book QF to get my maximum points bonus.
I can only imagine the sheer volume of applications that have been made, and can only imagine the time it would take to do this manual process, and I'd be quite understanding of this, but hearing there appeas to be some q jumping makes me less understanding. First in, first processed would seem to be fairest.
Lets hope its through by Monday PM or It may be that i never get to sample a VA pie for a while

Yes you will, show your QF Plat at the lounge and they'll give you a temp card also, let them know that you have already registered for the match online and take a print of the confirmation. You will habe no problems
