Velocity Shop and (NOT) earn

I'd come in to this topic thinking it'd been a bit rough that I'd had points pending since March. Clearly not gauging some of the posts in this topic...

Had a decent turnaround for Shopandearn partner NZWineOnline:

It's a funny earning system - a flat base of 659 points regardless of purchase amount. I bought one bottle of wine plus postage - 659 points for a total of $25! It's ok for a one-off purchase.

Very impressed lately and I have been doing quite a bit of on-line shopping (Sorry Myer and David Jones)

The Iconic
Next
Debenhams

Points all into the account in a short period of time (less than 3 weeks for all of them)

Quite a few retailers offering 5 points per $1 and free shipping with prices the same or less than buying in-store

For a total of 6.5 points per $1 it's a very nice way to shop from home with a glass of wine beside you

5 Velocity points
1.5 Amex points, actually more if you want to count the 15/20% bonus IF you transfer points to Velocity at the moment

A HUGE fan of the Shop and Earn store!

You're lucky. I have points waiting from back in June from Menulog (In fact, I have well over 1k worth of points queued up up until this week).

I figure it's costing me zero extra to use 'shop and don't earn' when I use any of these services, so if they do eventually arrive in my account it's a bonus.

The site said 'up to 60 days'. It's been 90. I should drop them an email (is the ACCC interested in this kinda stuff or is it all too much effort for them?).

I am still waiting for my Dell points since July, it seems the bigger amounts always take longer, my Apple Macbook air on a 4 times bonus took months last year.

Date: 9 July 2012 Time: 12:51 Merchant: Dell Australia Earned: 13989 Velocity Points
Status: Pending

I'm still waiting for Velocity to just add a transaction even as Pending from the Apple Store (Just purchasing a HP Printer and trying to take advantage of there 4 Points for $1 offer)... Called them up, said they would get back to me within the week about what they found, even after forwarding my Apple reciept email to the team... Still waiting...

Had done this before on two occasions with no dramas - 3rd time unlucky...

Below is my transaction history, you will notice only one approved. I am also completely missing a FragranceX transaction (no confirmation etc after doing it all the right way) that is worth a few thousand points. What's the best way to follow it up with Velocity?

01.Date: 16 September 2012 Time: 00:00 Merchant: eBay Australia Earned: 200 Velocity Points

02.Date: 26 August 2012 Time: 00:00 Merchant: eBay Australia Earned: 98 Velocity Points

Some things you can claim for direct on the website, just click claim missing points above the latest activities table or if it is not one of those email; [email protected]

Thanks for that, I've sent them an email.

The Velocity shop has so much potential and I really am a fan of it... it's just a shame it can take so long for point's to post and the little hiccups along the way.

Following up from this, I sent the velocity team an email, they replied asking for proof of purchase, so I sent a copy of the invoice.

A week later I had to chase up to push the issue and have just received an email saying they can't award me the points due to not being logged in. I know 100% I am logged in and am very familiar with the Shopand Earn store. Time for another email I think.

Well, abit of a win for me - Late last night getting a Pending & Approved email in quick succession for the above transaction! They just gave me 1000 points for it, abit short of what I should of got for the 4 for $1 deal... But we'll leave at that...
Looking at purchasing afew more big products from Apple through the online store - I'll clear my cookies and see what happens next time.

I've been pretty lucky with most of mine taking less than a month to show up in my account, except for a couple of overseas merchants who never pended whatsoever

If you login to your Velocity account, directly under the Latest Activities box you'll see this:

shopndontearn.png

If you click on 'Velocity Global eStore' you should see pending purchases that were made when you were 'logged in'.

Not sure if that'll help, but it's ammunition :)

I've noted that Menulog have seemingly vanished as a partner (after I managed to get just about all of my points cleared with a little help from Velocity contacts).

*edit*
Menulog appear to be back, but under the 'For Men' section. Are they implying it's only for bachelors or those without SWMBO's? ;)

Re: Velocity partners with iTunes and major retailers

Be interesting to see how the purchase tracking works for iTunes. Priority Club tried this before and it was an epic failure because you can't purchase content from the iTunes website, you have to do it through the iTunes application.

Re: Now earn Virgin Australia frequent flyer points on iTunes music, apps

Except as I pointed out on the other thread I don't know how it's going to work, because you can't actually purchase off the iTunes website, you have to launch the application, and the T&Cs exclude purchases made through the app ...

I have a Cold Chisel box set I'd like to buy, at 4 points/$ it's not a bad offer, but I'm leaning towards buying discount gift cards and saving $ instead of earning points. Hmm... decisions.

Re: Velocity partners with iTunes and major retailers

So to get the points do we do this?

Log into the shopandearn website. Then click on shop now on the itunes link. Then it will open up itunes app on your computer. Then just buy from there???

Thanks,
K.
