Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

So I'm guessing they still haven't fixed up the seat selection debacle !!!!
Booked a simple J ticket today MEL-NTL. No where in the booking process does it give me the option to choose a seat. The e-ticket arrives in the inbox. Go back onto the website into Manage My Booking . Seat selection isn't even one of the choices :?:
WTF, it's as if VA bought a "Lite" or "Free" version of a booking engine.
Ring up Velocity Platinum and the agent gives me a world weary sigh and allocates me 1F, re-sends the itinerary.
I honestly wonder if any of these issues will ever be sorted, it's all very LCC to me :(

Trying to plug up the "Platinum friend in row 3" bug? Rather poorly?

That said, I booked a VA J reward a couple of weeks ago and I could select seats during the booking process just fine. So no idea what's going on here.

Can anyone that uses the Virgin Corporate Login portal to make bookings then go in and use any of the MMB functionality?

It seems that personal bookings I make via the normal booking screen allows me to then go in and change flights / seal allocation, but any booking I make via the corporate login doesn't?

Had to change flights yesterday (flexi) - tried to do this online but got the "contact GCC" message. Platinum desk was going to charge the $35 change fee until I explained that I couldn't change online, so they did waive the fee.

Same problem here, on MMB the flight details are shown but you can't do anything, only says to contact the GCC. Called the GCC a few weeks ago when I wanted to change seat allocation from 5B (thanks travel arranger) to 3A which was still available, but lady on the Plat line told me she can't do anything and I would need to change it within the Corporate booking engine. Arrrggghhh...

Anyway, I survived the flight in 5B, and have since been set up as a travel arranger myself so book my own flights. Just read this thread and this reminded me to check out functionality within the Corporate booking engine. I was able to change a flight no problem, did that last week. Just tried to select seats for an existing booking, can't do this, says "call GCC".

In the Corporate booking engine all the passenger details such as address, phone numbers etc. stick though, so no need to enter them over and over again.

Everything very half baked still...

Seems a lot of complaints here, but I do think things are getting better. Since the Sabre move (and I am platinum booking everything from Saver fares to Business) The only issues I have come across are
1)Occasional difficulties with online checkin - appears to be browser compatibility
2)When using travelbank to pay - if you balance doesn't cover the full fare - you are only given CC as a secondary payment option meaning you are then forced to pay surcharges as opposed to POLI.

Since the weekend maintenance on the Velocity page, it is next to impossible to load.

I have just just tired to log into my account (don't get me started on points still not credited) and in the time it's taken the page to load 50% I've opened a new tab, googled AFF, logged in (twice as I made a mistake) and managed to do this post...

I am using a prehistoric Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.06 and just tried logging into the Velocity web site and the Virgin Australia web site, both seem a little bit "borky" and have trouble finding your own bookings with velocity numbers and make you login multiple times to manage your booking, so no real change for me since about March 2013 when they first got Sabre and the web sites to at least talk to eachother.

The Velocity and VA web sites still don't want to be freinds though, and external corporate travel agent bookings still cannot be retreived on the VA web sites even though the Velocity numbers and PNRs are real. No OLCI for these flights too. I can still see and do more with Tripcase than the VA web sites.

What are you using to login Milboo ?

My Bookings has changes and is now MUCH better (in upcoming flight presentation only, albeit).

OK...I see what you mean now. Log in via velocityrewards only - get a new view...click on a PNR and get taken to the old view.

Log in via virginaustralia using your velocity number and you only get the old view.

It's better, but still disjointed.

Absolute Rubbish!! I am now calling on phone to get seat selection. Correct it is the web interface to the Sabre mainframe. Piss poor job.

Can someone shed some light on how the price and date bar above flights for booking works? I'd assume it should be listing the cheapest fare on that day, however I'm also getting some random fares which are quite lower than what is actually available on that day, rendering that price bar rubbish.

I think the answer is that it doesn't work that well - I think I sent feedback early last year as it really didn't work at all but I don't think they ever fixed it completely.

Received an email from Velocity this morning. No subject and no content (and yes the email address is legit). Rather strange, especially as I am waiting for some overdue points.

Another one here also from the estore. Gave up on that one a long time ago following many non points posting.

First time Ive had points not post (but first time Ive bought from the Apple store via Velocity). Got the email stating points would post in 30 days but that was three months ago, and I havent had time to chase it up.

Hello fellow AFFErs, just a bit of housekeeping related to this thread, if people have the time to review this extensive list here:

The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community - eastwest101 - Blogs

And let me know if there are known problems with the Velocity and/or the VA web sites that are not covered on this blog, just add comments on this thread or PM me, I am going to do some housework on the list of things in the next few days that are apparently fixed, but just want to confirm the ones that I think are fixed really are fixed! There are a few bugs that I am still unsure of because I haven't tried to do them, like redeem velocity points online with partner airlines such as DL EY NZ SQ etc as I assume that you have to phone for some (all?) of these?

Those points finally posted, almost three months after the purchase.

Also, when I log onto Velocity and check "My Bookings", a flight from a few weeks ago shows, but none of my upcoming flights....

Just got a survey from VA after my 20/2 flight ADL/BNE. Absolutely gave them stick over their poor integration of VA and Velocity websites, quoting some of eastwest101's still current issues from the blog. Let's see if I get a call back, if they dare...
