Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Hmmm..... It is working this morning .......but being the impatient bugger I am ( amazed I stayed with the VA web site for as long as I did ) Qantas gladly and quickly accepted my 'J' dollars for QF798/655 last night. The VA web site has cost them thousands for me alone just getting the sh#ts and bailing to QF.

I'm also noting what I call the 'grey out period' that happens to the screen between selecting an actual out bound and them in bound flight is back doing it stalling trick again.

Yesterday I booked my 'free' flight that came with my Velocity Amex card. Was pretty easy to do on the phone with Amex. However I note it doesn't show up in my VA bookings. I wonder if I'll get a check-in reminder at T-48. How do I check my seating? I might try the booking number and see what comes up.

Another whinge - what's with the Euro date format on the "My bookings" page? This: 2014-12-04 is now way to write the date. Better than US format I guess.

Managed to enter the booking number without being logged in and could only get row 23 (as a SG) apart from middle seats. Tried to add the booking to my account but whenever I clicked on "Claim missing points" then "Add your membership number" I just end up at a point where I can see my existing bookings and not this one.

My guess is I have to contact Amex to add the number. This is pretty dumb as the VFF number should be linked to the Amex account.

It takes a while for AMEX to confirm the booking. VFF GCC can see them however. I rang to organise my AMEX booking, my wife's AMEX booking and my daughters paid PNRs to be linked and seat selected. Handled very competently by the GCC lady. I can't recall if we had to give our VFF No. separately to the AMEX lady, but I don't think so. That side of it was handled well and painless too. Given the debacle that was the old VM 241s that took hours to negotiate, I was actually impressed with this one.

I finally managed to get in checking in using my booking number. I could only get rubbish seating but then I saw where I could add my VFF number then the world opened up for me, got row 12 out and row 4 back. Not too bad.

Todays woes.... Apparently Velocity Frequent Flyer is the operator of the flight. The flight travel time is also wrong.

Arrives 18 Nov - 01:55 PM
Travel Time 02hour 30min
Cabin & Fare Type Economy / Saver Lite
Aircraft Boeing 737-800
Operated By Velocity Frequent Flyer

Well the Sabre project team finally moved out of the building next to me about 2 weeks ago.

They filled the building at the pre-implementation time of the project. Reduced after the cut-over in January 2014 and I presume now they have either gone back to HQ or their contracts are over.

Hope they don't think the job is done - this thread is testament to the continuing issues.

Thanks for the update - will be interesting to see how things go moving forward, if we see things slowly being rectified/fixed over time then I guess that VA still has an "in house" IT team that will be presumably mopping up the mess left behind?

Here's a trip down memory lane - what happened to single sign on for the Velocity and VA web sites? And whatever happened to an online multi-city booking engine? I haven't seen as many threads about mis-calculation of fares (or taxes and surcharges) lately and other stuff not appearing as often as we saw in 2013 but for reference - this was the state of play from what I can tell.

Well I scored a bit of a win due to the rubbish website. On Friday I booked an NTL-MEL Flexi rtn for two and called up to upgrade using points. Checked my account and I've been deducted 9800 points total - we're both in J there and back :D

He, he.......I've decided the amount of points deducted seems to be governed by the GCC staff checking the points table rather than the computer doing it for them. The better the staff knowledge, the less chance of checking and the greater chance of .....err......errors! ;)

Hey? Wasn't cut over about Mar-Apr 2013

The original cut-over from Navitaire to Sabre was meant to be mid-October, but the call was made to be delayed until mid-January. The Sabre team over from Canada couldn't stay any longer as the had to go to EY and do the same thing. Was it 2014 or 2013 :- age doth weary the brain o

I was thinking the same thing with me. I know time flies but 2014???? Surely not, we've had too many failures since then to be 2014 (or so my reasoning goes). ;)

So on Friday I get my email reminding me check-in for Sunday's flight. I go and check-in via laptop, only to be told that I was unable to be checked-in online and would have to wait until airport check-in. So I rang Virgin CS and he said that as I had used my complimentary upgrades, I could only check in at the airport. WTF?? Another fail - have no trouble like that with the QF website

I received an email inviting me to complete a survey on a sample of new hypothetical online booking pages and scenarios asking me which type of fare I would prefer for a business trip. It gave various options of bags/food/seat selection/flexibility/refundability at different price points. The survey worked fine - though it doesn't bode well for anyone hoping VA would just go "proper" full service and ditch the catering and baggage roulette.

Then...upon pressing submit on my browser I was directed to the VA website with a big ERROR 404 banner across the top. Yup. Great work VA website!

Confirmed everything that I already knew that my QF status run today to hit Gold for the first time by the end of the month :)
