Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Oh and I didn't book a flight in the end. Who knows what might have happened to it.

Tried but then they said it was past 24 hours since I made the booking they would still charge me to change.

Hi all,
Just wanted to share my recent experience trying to transfer Velocity points over to KrisFlyer.
When I clicked the transfer button on the website I received an error message saying there was a system timeout issue. however, the points were withdrawn from the account but never arrived in my KrisFlyer account. Normally this is instantaneous but the points were still not in my KrisFlyer account this morning so I rang Velocity. They said they were "aware" of the issue as others had experienced the same problem.
Then, and this is the most disappointing part of the experience, the representative on the phone said the issue was being "escalated" and they would respond to the problem "within five business days". In the meantime, the SQ flights I was looking to book may no longer be available.
Hopefully you all have better success with the VA<->SQ points transfers.
Cheers

Looking at my bookings today I noticed the website has had some changes. I am guessing they are doing some backend stuff and things are breaking all over the place.

They do seem to be making changes to the IBE as the Manage Booking page has a refreshed design.

Happening with both OSX/Windows here, across three different networks. 3-4 days so far.

Thank goodness somebody else got this error - I was about to reinstall all sorts of stuff on my macbook air.
Is it occurring on PC's?
I'm getting it on Safari and Chrome

When I now try to access my account through Velocity, I get the 403 "Access Denied" message (this is on the new login page that did work a few weeks ago). By using the VA site, it brings up what looks like the same page but I can gain access. As another twist, I noticed when I'm on the Velocity "Access Denied" page, if I use the back-page arrow, it doesn't take me back to the login page, it takes me directly into my account overview page! This is after it told me access was denied. It makes me wonder just how safe our accounts are. They seem to have no control over what the login page(s) are doing. Thank goodness I transferred all my points. Now I've just got a few flights in there that could be at risk.

I note Velocity Frequent Flyer was participating earlier on this tread, so VFF, it still appears to be busted. You can pass that message on to your web team. Oh, and where do I send the bill for my wasted time?

Is it just me or have they broken rewards searches again? Searching for Vegas to O'Hare return in Business, and it shows a matrix of dates - selecting a pair that shows 'Available' just shows you the same page again.

Searching for economy or for one way seems to work.

The aim of VA is to throw rewards points around everywhere and then not allow people to use them due to availability or a broken search engine.

I check every day for available reward flights and just get so frustrated. If the EY surcharges weren't so high I'd be using my points there I would say.

Alas, had a call from Colmar Brunton last week inviting me to another VA focus group meeting yesterday, but my kids school Xmas carols last night put paid to that idea - damn, was a decent payer as well :o :(

I booked an Amex reward flight last week and am flying tomorrow. Booking is not recorded and I can't check in even with the booking reference. Not sure if it's an issue with Amex or Virgin but it's very frustrating. I seem to recall it's happened every year. Either way I'm stuck with no seat choice given. Row 27 here I come. Centre of course.

This happened to me early this year when redeeming my VA free flight through AMEX. My advice: contact Virgin's call centre, they should be able to help with your booking (they did for me).

ISTR Amex Travel will issue their own Booking Reference, and there will be a separate VA Booking Reference for the flight. Have a look through the Amex documentation and see if another is listed.

And heres another tip for the Virgin IT guys, if you're going to a survey of your customers about their experience booking and flying VA then perhaps it might be a good idea to create a survey that dosen't crash and become unresponsive 15% of the way into collecting the information? They have been teaching our kids in Year 9 how to create online surveys in their IT classes, surely its not too much to expect that VA or their IT contractors should be able to do the same thing?

Aren't they clever little bumpkins? I just pushed the delete icon without even bothering to start. VA aren't interested in feedback.

They were asking if you wanted to use your V Wallet to use points to buy online and at stores like Harvey Norman. Rates were terrible as you would expect

It still baffles me that VA has such a terrible website when so many (I would have thought anyway) sales come from the website.

I booked/travelled a SQ booking last month and booked it via the SQ website as I just find the VA website atrocious to use, really slow, unresponsive and a generally bad layout.

On the plus side, I logged in this morning and noticed I've been granted silver while 5SC's short - Perhaps I'll actually like back up the status ladder once again.

This mob has no idea

Has anyone managed to get the Virgin Holidays via Velocity links for hotels to work?

I select my city, dates, click search and it tells me its looking with the spinning wheel and then a "select your destination" error message pops up and thats it. No hotel, no map, no selections, nothing to book so now Im going direct to Hilton.

Edit: Ive tried IE, Chrome and Firefox. A PC and a laptop.

No its not just you - I went to try and replicate the problem and got this lovely message - note that my password hasn't changed - got rejected twice with my correct password so rather than being locked out on the third attempt I went to the "Forgot Password" link - only to be presented by this.

Looks like they have broken/reset a few peoples passwords, I had to reset mine a few months ago.

Amateurs....just amateurs.
