Vinomofo Wine Deals

Rocket,

I didn't get one either, not too concerned as I have spent too much of late anyway.
I did get the something big email this afternoon that my only info from VM today.

I don't think I am making myself clear. Some are reporting that they received an email on the Glenlofty, and I didn't get such email, I also didn't get the last VIM email so I am just clarifying before I tear shreds off them ;)
I am not interested in the 2012 until I see some credible reviews, I have 3 cases of the 2011 and 3 cases of the Shiraz Viognier 2012, so I am good :)

Yes, I misunderstood- I got the normal 11am VM email with a BM Victorian Shiraz

Do people posting deals they have found on the above mentioned site get a financial reward of some sort?

The 2012 Glenlofty shiraz scored <85 in the RMWS, whereas the 2012 shiraz-viognier scored a big boy 96. By my logic we should be on the look out for the Glenlofty 100% Viognier 2012 release!
Wow, weird. That 5% Viognier makes a big difference!!! Still happy I bought.

If you have a look at the results, there is a long list of quite good wines that also scored less than 85 in a huge class of wines. Top wine was Wynns White Label Shiraz 2014, a fairly basic sort of wine.
The Wine Show Judging system is broken.
So, maybe this is a dud, but you can't tell from a single huge wine show class result.

You are being insincere. Readers, please very carefully consider whether you want to identify wines to mini2 (publicly or privately). He regularly posts them up on OzBargain (under the same username), and for referrals when the rules allow him to.

Yeah I did post it there, so what? No referral links there.

Maybe I should feel privileged, now someone's watching my every move across 2 sites

But I LOVE the Shiraz Viognier and it's basically the same wine isn't it? Without a touch of Viognier?

If the deal is posted with a referral link then yes they do.

There appears to be nothing wrong with sharing a deal discovered here on another site. Certainly, I've never encountered anyone receiving a sanction for such an action. The Community Rules & Posting Guidelines apply to AFF, and they don't list this sort of activity.

If a member was taking information from AFF and using referral codes on another site to some gain advantage, that could be looked down upon, but again, the rules apply to AFF, not other websites.

If you have a problem with how another member is behaving or an accusation, please report the post or send a Moderator/Admin a PM to discuss further.

It's time to get back on topic.

Not necessarily, depends how they make it. A small amount of Viognier can make a big difference, some like it, some don't. I don't usually.
SV was 2011? This is 2012.

SV is 2012.

Ok, I don't pay much attention to SV, they had the 2011 previously I think.
Same answer though, depends whether they blend the grapes at the crusher (some say preferable) or make the shiraz and viognier and then blend some viognier with some of the shiraz.
The idea of crushing together is to enhance/preserve the colour and improve the texture of the wine without adding overt white grape/apricot aromas or flavours, or at least that was the original French innovation. In Australia the overt white grape / apricot aromas/flavours are often there and I don't like them in my Shiraz, although obviously many do.

Or they could be quite different wines from different part of their 350 acres of vineyards...

I missed out on the Glenlofty SV '12 and also not really a fan of the SV blend. I did get the Glenlofty shiraz '11 and LOVED it. Different to a lot of typical oz shiraz, quite gothic and brambly with a lick of vanillan oak. Something to drink on stormy nights, I'm hoping the '12 is of a similar vein. For $8 you can't really lose anyways...

And you can always send it back...

I see the 2013 Bleasdale Powder Monkey didnt medal in the 2013 class after the 2012 got 98 from Halliday. Different vintage i know but i wouldnt expect a massive fall from grace for this wine. Wine shows throw up some very random results sometimes
