Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Curious to hear your evaluation of the Amelia Park without having to go into tasting notes, do you prefer a larger-framed red (noting the Shirvington purchase) ;) ? cheers, W&D

W&D - in a nutshell it was too sweet for me, and a bit rough :) I do generally prefer big SA Shiraz, but also don't mind regional Vic Shiraz either for a change. Cheers.

Ahh, ok now I get it, I certainly concur on the SA and Vic preferences, I'm probably swimming upstream as far as my preferences go but I am unashamedly old school in preferring a red with a decent amount of grunt and gravitas :)

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I actually drank a 2014 last night and quite enjoyed it. Great value at that price if that is the same wine

Good to hear as I ended up booming. Very confident its the Hay Shed, blend %, RRP and drinking window all line up.

Hopefully VM get more of their range as they make some good wines.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Ive put in the VM Shriington Shiraz 2012 and the Cabernet Sauvnon 2104 secret deal into the Cart. Wondering what else to drop in Shiraz 2010 $14.50 or the Malbec Blend 2016 ? or Double up on the one the first two? or some other Red ?....budget buyer looking for value bang for peanuts!

Then again I've forgot about the Missus maybe White case she has been very good ! So what to get to make up the 3Box freight free deal??

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Are we sure it's the Hay Shed Hill Cabernet? HH gave it 4.5 stars (not sure what score) and has a value rating at $54.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Any ideas on this Pinot?

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

What with all the talk about Amelia Park, I'm going to unearth the one case of 2012 Cab Merlot and 2 cases of 2013 I have stashed. Based on responses both need a good breathe... decant the day before? Or am I better off leaving them in the cellar for now?

Im still drinking the 2012. I usually decant for a few hours.

2013 has improved with time and needs less decant time now, if any.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Didn't expect this as the Cab Merlot was decent but really not a fan of the '14 Shiraz. Too sweet for my liking. Are VM pretty good with returns? Only had a bottle out of my dozen.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Another Denton Viewhill is my guess (the DM Pinot matches well)

Bought this last week, and have tasted it. Not a massive fan to be honest. Very tart, sour on the palette. Pours a brick red colour that would suggest it's aged, but it's anything but.
It opens up a little after time but although not a bad wine, I certainly think the Marlborough Ara Pinot is smoother (Another VM purchase)

In my books a seven year old Pinot is definitely aged. Better palates may disagree, but IMO you are taking a disproportionately high risk when you buy a local Pinot more than a few years old.

I just checked the order.. It's a 2014 Denton Viewhill 'DM' Pinot.. My bad! But makes me wonder what the '10 tastes like
