Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Looks like our little wine threads get more attention than we might think! :) Great response from Tess and, watching from the side lines, leaves me with good impressions about Pyrenees Estate (whose wines I've not yet had the pleasure of enjoying...shame on me).

Now might just be your chance my friend. Estate Blend and Richardson Shiraz are up - both lovley wines.

(Sorry Tess ;))

I have been reading the thread a while.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

just had another go at the Amelia park. Found it improved once aired for an hour, still lacking depth and too floral for my liking. most work mates loved it. Its a very good drink now wine and great value. Rug thanks for the tip on the shirvington. Also tried that tonight i think its a great meaty wine, with a lovely long pallet still lots of tannins coming through and need more time but looks the goods.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Are we sure it's the Hay Shed Hill Cabernet? HH gave it 4.5 stars (not sure what score) and has a value rating at $54.

confirmed, I had one last night and it was excellent. Interesting there's no mention on the label of the blend.

Any thoughts on the Blue Pyrenees Estate 2013 Richardson Cabernet Sauvignon, also up at the moment?

I've only had a single bottle of the 2013 - found it quite tannic at this stage. Still fruit dominant. Not unsurprising for a young cab that's not drink-now. It would need more time IMHO.

Was this the shiraz or the cab merlot?

I opened the shiraz a couple of nights ago, and immediately on opening found the wine a little thin and one-dimensional. So I set it aside for 5-6 hours after which it had really opened up quite nicely. The follow night it was drinking superbly. So I would definitely recommend a very long decant if feasible.

Any ideas on this riesling?

Thanks

Bit of a hard one - might be wrong, but this one seems to line up well (only thing is 5 Red star rating, was a 5 star last year?)
  • Price ($28 shows in google search and on winefront), alc% and WF score, as well as the
  • profile 'fresh lime and white peach'
  • and 'no added fining gives the wine texture'
  • Palate - Lemon butter, lime flesh and hints of citrus are all pulled together with natural (no added) acid

-> 2016 Claymore Superstition Reserve Riesling

Does Clos Clare have a 5 red star rating?

Can we setup a page to show every secret deals in vinomofo. It's good to bookmark that page, then we update it.

G'day paddy, cellary is handy, but lacks details (eg - price) after the deal expires.

Expired deals also don't show the product "five digit number" that is included in the online address(?) so that if it comes up again
it's pretty much a fresh start to ID it.

Deva22 started this thread for "VM BM & secret deals", I thought it was a good idea -

I start decanting the latest shiraz/cab blend around midday if having with dinner. 3-5 hrs at the very minimum for me with these wines.

No one update the expiry date in cellary. for the thread it just has one wine posted. Both are not good enough.

Did anyone buy the Giant Steps Merlot from VM and if so what did they think? I got cases of the 13 and 14 vintage but after opening a bottle of the 14 with friends on the weekend it seems something is wrong with it - maybe over heated in storage? All of us felt it wasn't right. Did anyone else find this? Know can send back but it may have been just 1 bad bottle, find it unusual for Giant Steps though. Interested if anyone had similar
