Signed up through a link in this thread (probably infinity by the looks of it,lol)...my first foray away from Qantas points accumulation into VA...dragged the wife in with me and grabbed a referral bonus....

Please feel free to help us on our way!
Happy flying!

Got card last week and have spent $1000 but only see 80,000 points in my account so far. Should I follow-up or have others had the other 30,000 post subsequently? Thanks.

Davel

I did share the link across my FB and work contacts as well
so yes, very lucky

Just booked some F class on EY new A380 First Apartments thanks to this card!

Can you tell us where and when you are going and how you did it? I find their website incredibly hard to search for flights. Going to the US looks pretty unlikely in business. I am now thinking about Samoa, get away from the cold in Melbourne. Anyone want to come with me? Here is my link, amex velocity

Hey Guys,

For those who knew about this deal from Ozbargain or Whirlpool (theDr and wazza23), I posted this deal nice and early for everyone to get involved on both those websites WITHOUT my referral link. Just tried doing the right thing by everyone.

My wife signed up so early that she didn't even have a referral link to sign up with!

Anyone who wants to sign up and perhaps came from either one of those websites....feel free to show your support!

Great wealth of knowledge on this website. Good community!

My application was delayed for a few days as they wanted passport, license and medicare details for my mum as an additional cardholder, is that standard? It seems excessive.. But finally got approved so im.daniel the referral points should be yours soon!

If anyone would like to spread the love around, here's my referral link:

Thanks in advance!

The way that this credit card and its points being awarded and how it's proliferating is almost ridiculous and comical.

I managed to attach my new card to my existing American Express online service profile. Hopefully that doesn't count against me to get the 110k bonus, but seeing as "everyone else" that isn't new is getting it, it'd be a bit rash if I didn't get it as well. Now have to work on making the $1000 required.

So, the minimum spend is $1000 within the first 3 months or in the first month?

$1000 within the first 3 months.

Although, the average on AFF et al. seems to be the meeting the target within 3 days :)

If I may assist and others that are new to Velocity. You can use your velocity points on Virgin and Etihad to Abu Dhabi where you can travel to many ports into Europe. For Etihad availability if you can't find what you are looking for on the Virgin site head to Etihad Guest Miles (free and do not need to be a member) to look for Business and First availability. If you see what you need there ring Velocity and get them to look for it. First will NOT show ever on the Velocity site. You will be looking for a "Guest First" or "Guest Business" seat. For those that have the points and are interested there is a Guest First on the 380 showing available right now on the 20th August to Abu Dhabi!!

Just another data point to add to this. I have an existing AMEX-issued card(the free one that gives QF points), and I applied for this through Robd's referral link, and I got the full 110k points even though I had an existing card(disclosed it in the application as well, giving the CC number, etc). My wife then also applied through a referral link, and she too got her 110k points even though she had previously held a David Jones Amex card which was only recently closed down a few months ago.

A colleague of mine spoke to someone at the AMEX office, and supposedly if you apply directly through their normal offer(ie. not through a referral), which includes a 100k bonus point offer, if you already hold an existing card/previously held one in last 12 months, then their system won't give you the 100k points. BUT, if you apply through a referral, that overrides their system to actually give the 110k bonus points, even though its not supposed to. So, moral of the story is, make sure you apply through a referral(if you already hold an AMEX-issued card or did previously), not just for extra 10k points, but for the "undocumented" benefit of overriding their T&Cs of not awarding bonus points if already existing customer.

To help facilitate that :P, here's my referral link again : https://www316.americanexpress.com/...B1A6385D0&mgmerSource&MGMURN=AAAABgQeEhcfDw==

Not true. My sister currently holds a plat edge card, she forgot to use a referral link and yesterday got the 100,000.
The mystery continues!

Thank you to whomever used my referral link. The extra 20K pts was a very nice surprise to bring me to ~250K. Now to find a way to spend them :)

Card applied for and approved on Sunday and not delivered yet. Perhaps it has to be used first to count as a valid referral?

Thankyou SydneySwan for using my referral! Got the 20k points just fine! It came through on the 10th but only showed up in the points balance today. Much appreciated!

250k is the magic number as it is what you need for return J on EY from SYD/MEL to anywhere in europe. Mrs Europa and I usually purchase one ticket and redeem one using points at least once per year..

off topic, but how easy is it to get the J class to Europe, do you need to book well in advance like QF, or can we decide to go someday in the month of September and just book.

I've booked a trip for the end of the month away to DUS return J on EY from BNE. The hardest challenge is the VA "plat" international desk. Thankfully after so much practice with AAdvantage, I've simply learnt you just need to do the searching yourself and then spoonfeed the agent with flight numbers and times and then all of a sudden it becomes available!

Also if anyone is still looking for a refferal link I'd be very grateful https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&MGMURN=AAAABgQbHA4eDw==&CPID=999999484
