Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I'm pretty sure the 700's got proper J seating now.

At least one of them does, as I was on it last week!

Does anyone know what the catering is like for MCY-MEL? I'm on it in October and it leaves at 11:40 (and that is 12:40 Mel time as it will be daylight saving). Hoping it's a proper lunch as we don't land until after 3pm...

Had a afternoon MEL-CBR snack flight but for the first time had the rasberry ice-cream cookie sandwhich for dessert and of course cheese-crackers....

SO SO SO good!

Dinner flights get chocolate nuts, but afternoon flight a nice ice-cream

Bit strange!

I'd be glad if Virgin had the ice-cream for the evening flights instead of the useless chocolate nuts...

Personally, I didn't mind the cheese platter last time I had it - in fact it was actually quite timely. I arrived and had very decent sized dinner at the Virgin lounge and then the cheese platter snack was perfect for the fight home.

What did you eat in the lounge? Other than a sandwich or soup, what substantial food was served? I'm yet to see any of the food people speak of in the lounges... The snack offerings are ok, but dinner?

I think I ate the following that evening:
- Dips with pita beard
- Cold meats with salad
- Chicken curry with rice
- A few deserts (can't remember which)

I was given a (comprehensive) wine list on the new A330 at breakfast time. But at dinner time on an ex-EK bird, there was no wine list.

I received a wine list on XFA on the 5:30pm flight SYD-PER late last year.

Was on the 5:10pm SYD-OOL last Sunday night. An it was an afternoon snack flight, I was expecting a cheese platter, but to my surprise there was a risotto and a panacotta(is that how you spell it?) and i was pleasantly surprised.

WTF? on 17:40h OOL-MEL yesterday we had the cheese platter. Consistency (not).

5.40pm OOL-MEL has always been a "snack" from experience. Just ask for a normal menu as you can have what you wish.

Yes its weird considering 5.40pm-8.05pm flight time is not classed as dinner lol.

The risotto was still Afternoon snack, but at least it's not a cheese platter.
Doing an afternoon SYD-OOL J tomorrow, will report back on offering.
And yes, it does seam weird that MEL-OOL would get a pitiful cheese platter considering it gets in after 8.

I'm guessing OOL service will step up in October to counter QF arrival.
