Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Ps, I don't mind the cheese platter for pre 5pm arrivals.

5.40pm OOL-MEL has always been a "snack" from experience. Just ask for a normal menu as you can have what you wish.

Yes its weird considering 5.40pm-8.05pm flight time is not classed as dinner lol.
Oh - sorry I thought the risotto was a meal. Yes - a few of us ordered up some items, I had a new yorker sandwich and a lot of red.
FA apologised profusely etc. etc. They have the same opinion that the flight should have dinner. Over time I'm sure it will improve.

Flew J yesterday PER SYD Entree Prawns Main Lamb Shanks and Desert Cheescake and the cheese platter (not the golden triangle cheese platter) then flew DJ 545 in J 8.10pm ex SYD and Sheppards pie for dinner.

PER-MEL A330 yesterday, old ex-EK.

Had potato + leek soup, lamb shanks. skipped desert.

Got an amenity kit too, haven't opened it though. Overall friendly staff and a fine experience, but the IFE was poor and I wouldn't put the food or service above QF.

Let's see what the return does for me tomorrow, still showing new 330 thankfully :)

E190 tonight 6:45pm with an op-up (was in seat 3D on 6pm, moved to 6:45pm still in 3D, op-up at gate to 2F).

Shepherd's pie (I think the two in row 1 were paid J as they got a choice of the pie, or vegetarian tagine and took that). Quite nice but I like the normal pies better!

Was expecting just my Flexi meal, but got the full J service. Makes up for the flight last week that was in paid J and had no catering loaded!

Have you received a partial credit shell for your flight without J catering?

Yes, but I had to raise a complaint through the website as it didn't happen automatically (not sure if it's supposed to?)

3:10PM SYD-OOL DJ527
cheese platter.
Which I don't mind on mid afternoon.
CSM felt bad though, as before the platter she offered me wrap, sandwichh, menu, etc.

Is it worth putting up on the first post of this thread that the transcon flights in business seem to all be 3 course meals now? I know its been mentioned several times in this thread and probably most regulars will already know - but for completeness and for new readers ...

Mine was effectively four courses. Was offered dessert and the cheese. I only chose the cheese. Does anyone know if the cheese and the dessert (in my case an orange cake) is the same course or whether I just got lucky and I was offered both because the load in J was only 4/24?

Its written on the menu like its cheese then desert. Looking at the trolley as it went by me I think not so many choose the cheese, which is pretty understandable given how much of the stuff we've been asked to move during J "snack time" in the last 12 months.

By the way, off topic, but 80%+ J load on FRI night PER-MEL on the 332. I try to fly at civilised hours and maybe this is the reason why its been quite a while since I was alone, or lonely up the front on DJ transcon.

My only experiences were late last year, but was offered both dessert and cheese each time - the cabin was very lightly loaded however.

What would be offered menu wise on a DJ Transcon PER SYD in J, say on DJ 556, leaving PER at 1015am arr SYD 1730. I would have had scrambled eggs already on my flight in from SIN, or breakfast breads in the PER lounge? thks, PJ

Flights 0930-2259 are "Lunch and Dinner" and are the full 3 course menu

DSFlyer posted the latest menu a few pages back, but lunch and dinner at the time (eastbound) was:

J Class, SYD-MEL-HBA

Hi,
Am booked to fly DJ on J class from SYD to HBA via MEL on 28 Sep and had some questions

1. Do I get dinner, flight out of SYD is at 19:30 and from MEL at 21:00
2. DJ says I get premium headset which is mine to keep, forums suggest 330 has a noise reduction headset and 737 and E190 have a in ear headphone worse than the ones given with an iPhone.. which one is true

And any idea if DJ is doing a double SC ?

Cheers!!!

So, do you just ask the FA for a normal menu ,and hope they have some in the galley?

Why would you want a coughpy wrap or sandwich anyway?
