Virgin Australia Delays/Cancellations

Also on Monday 30 July 2018, VA83 from SYD up to HKG, A332 Vh-XFJ, the 1000 hours did not become airborne until 1121. Arrival should be at around 1840, an hour late.

VA1627 (B738 VH-VOM, the mod morning 1005 hours SYD - AYQ) was still taxiing at 1224 so is likely to be at least two hours late arriving at 'The Rock.' This aircraft had been very late on VA407, with this scheduled 0700 hours ADL across to SYD not becoming airborne until 0939, arriving SYD at 1140 hours, 140 late.

Later on 30 July 2018, VA1245 operated by Alliance Airlines (E100 VH-XWR, the 1510 hours BNE up to ROK) took off at 1738 so arrival should be at 1845 hours, 140 late.

On Tuesday 31 July, B738 VH-YID on VA555, the 0935 hours SYD to PER was still queueing at 1056 for departure, so arrival will be at 1326, 36 late at a minimum.

VA1 (0930 hours SYD to LAX, B773ER VH-VPD) took off at 1131 hours so arrival should be at 0745 hours, 100 minutes late.

A lot later on 31 July, VA1741 (F100 VH-FNC, the 1700 hours ASP up to DRW) should arrive at 2229 hours, 204 minutes late. The first leg of this flight was also badly late (ADL up to ASP).

On Wednesday 1 August, the 0700 hours DRW - ASP, VA1576 has been altered to depart at 1005, presumably due to minimum mandatory crew rest hours. A string of other flights due to be operated by this aircraft tomorrow will also be late.

Wednesday 1 August 2018 sees VA935 (the 1100 SYD - BNE, B738 VH-VUX) having become airborne at 1154 for a suggested 1300 hoirs, half an hour late arrival.

Later on 1 August, VA1179 (1630 hours ABX to SYD, ATR72 VH-FVQ that was in the sky at 1740, about 55 late) should arrive at 1847, 57 late.

On Thursday 2 August, rain has made its way from Ceduna across to Adelaide. VA242, the 1905 hours took off at 2033 with B738 VH-YVC and should arrive at 2214 tonight, 79 late.

Also on Friday 3 August 2018, VA841 (1200 'high noon' ME: - SYD that took off at 1305 with B738 VH-VOP) arrived at 1416, 51 minutes tardy.

Later on 3 August, the MEL - BNE VA310 should pull in to its designated arrival gate at 2149 hours, 39 late with B738 VH-VUC.

VA755 is the MEL - OOL B738 (VH-VUH) that looks to be arriving at 2219 tonight, 84 late.

VA1695 (2050 hours CBR - OOL that was in the sky at 2138, VH-VOM) should arrive at 2305, 45 minutes tardy.

VA23 MEL-LAX cancelled today, even though arriving 777 came in this morning.

Which will mean either VA2 or VA24 is will be cancelled ex LA Saturday Night local soco time.

VA679 (Sunday 5 August 2018, the scheduled 0840 hours MEL across to PER that was not airborne until 1150 with A332 VH-XFG) should arrive at roughly 1341 hours, 161 late. It had arrived in MEL 27 early at 0513 this morning on VA68 ex HKG, so while winds have been reasonably severe at MEL, not sure why the delay.

The 1300 hours SYD up to BNE, VA943 was in the sky at 1351 with one of the usual B738s, VH-YIF. A 37 minute tardy, 1507 hours arrival is the prediction.

On the money, Saab34: VA24, the late evening 4 August LAX - MEL has been cancelled.

I had to think what 'soco' was as I thought the trendy abbreviation for southern California was 'socal.' Learn something everyday!

VA810, Monday 6 August 2018 has B738 VH-YVA and is the 0715 hours SYD down to MEL that was airborne at 0818. Arrival should be at 0948, 58 late.

The 0645 hours SYD - MEL is ahead of VA810, with 806 having become airborne at 0741. The prediction is an 0856 hours, 36 late arrival in MEL.

In the middle is VA808 (VH-VUK, the scheduled 0700 hours southbound that took off at 0805, five minutes behind low cost colleague TT213). VUK should be at its destination gate at 0928 hours, 57 late.

VA812, the 0730 hours SYD - MEL was airborne at 0833 so arrival for VH-VUW is suggested as 1001, a very similar 56 late.

The following VA814 is less delayed with VH-VUE on this timetabled 0745 hours SYD down to MEL taking off at 0835, meaning likely at gate arrival in the southern capital of about 1002, 42 late.

Delays on SYD - MEL continue on Monday 6 August with VA820, the 0830 hours taking off at 0912 with B738 VH-YIA. Arrival is predicted to be 1036, 31 late.

VA324, Monday 6 August 1055 hours BNE down to MEL has B738 VH-VUF that was airborne at 1145. Arrival should be 1355, 35 minutes behind.

The 1200 'high noon' OOL - MEL with VH-VUK was in the sky at 1315, so arrival is at 1529 hours, 64 late.

ATR72 VH-FVY on the northbound 1245 hours lunchtime MEL up to CBR (VA269) is badly delayed, having taken off at 1514 for a suggested 1632 arrival, 147 late.

VA849 is not as bad, but expected 65 late into SYD at 1630 hours as B738 VH-VFU took off at 1511 this afternoon, 71 minutes after timetabled pushback.

Later on Monday 6 August, the 1700 hours from OOL to MEL that was in the sky at 1804 (B738 VH-VUE) is arriving at 2016, 51 late.

VA664 (1805 hours early evening SYD down the short hop to CBR, ATR72 VH-FVY) did not become airborne until 1915 so arrival is likely at 2008, 63 minutes delayed.

1905 hours OOL down to SYD (VA544, VH-VUK) was in the sky at 2054. Suggested arrival has changed to 2207 tonight, 92 late.

Wednesday 8 August 2018 sees northbound VA705, the 1325 hours HBA - BNE that took off 70 minutes later with B738 VH-VOP likely to arrive at 1707 hours, 67 late.

B773ER VH-VPF on VA1, the 0930 hours SYD - LAX took off at 1053 on Thursday 9 August 2018. Arrival is expected at 0707 hours, 62 late.

VA555 (0935 hours SYD across to PER) was airborne at 1041 with A332 VH-XFG. Expected arrival is 1319 hours, 34 late.

VA679 (Friday 10 August 2018, the scheduled 0805 hours MEL across to PER that did not take off until 0941) has the very welcome (in comparison to a B738) A332 VH-XFE. Expected arrival is 1135 hours, 70 minutes tardy. The delay was due to VA68 ex HKG arriving MEL 85 minutes late at 0705, and then the aircraft had to transfer between gates.

The 0845 hours CBR down to MEL, VA256 (B738 VH-YFR) was not in the sky until 1121 so arrivalo has become a suggested 1226 hours, 151 late. FR24 asserts this plane is next rostered on VA329, the 1300 hours MEL - BNE so that should be fairly close to time in pushing back. Thank goodness for the generous turnaround, as the three subsequent flights today for this aircraft have minimum 35 minute turnarounds.
