Hmm.... also seems that Drewbles has been matched with my +1 that isn't, so there's a plethora of open spots it would seem.

Well i'm always looking to be matched up with someone, but I doubt they'd cope with me ;)

AFF meets speed dating... 6 minutes in the F lounge with the WP of your choice :)

I'll also likely be cabbing it on arrival in MEL (or perhaps a bit thereafter).

Am happy to cab-share if some people are heading in same direction. I am pretty much in the CBD...

I have room for 3 people (apart from me) in my car. I'm happy to offer a lift back to the CBD (For my birthday drinks though; you have to buy me a drink in place of a cab fare!)

It's your birthday - you shouldn't be driving! You can cab with us and we will pay the fare - you get your champagne on :)

Now, who's heading up from MEL that morning? I haven't booked my flight up yet and thinking of going DJ to I can try out the shiny new lounge.

Hey Sam buddy - thanks mate! ;) *trying to send cyber-gratitude*

Now, who's heading up from MEL that morning? I haven't booked my flight up yet and thinking of going DJ to I can try out the shiny new lounge.

Originally I thought I was in Sydney that Friday and coming home on Sat. Turns out I am in Sydney midweek - so looks like I will need to book a flight up - thinking either the Fri night or possibly the Sat morning.

I would be happy to go along with a group flight up on DJ - and *so glad to say this after being a leech in this thread* am able to guest someone into the shiny new VA Lounge in Melbourne....

Could be a fun day - up and down :)

I'm heading back to OOL on Virgin that night. Proabley the last or 2nd last flight out. I'll be in the OOL lounge.

Oh, Lawless. You can take out the bit about I might be related to someone Tae knows... Turns out we aren't related...

Rather than go to the regular no fun QF J lounge we should all go over and see Virgin's shiny new lounge!

I do have JQ35 SYD-MEL booked on the same itinerary as a QF CBR-SYD flight for this weekend, so I will report back and let you all know if I manage to get the BP in CBR.

Alas they wouldn't do it.

But not to worry, there was no line at all in SYD for JQ35 check-in (there were hardly any pax) so I walked right up and collected my BP. I believe I was one of the last passengers on the aircraft, and StarClass "Business" was also empty.

Intriguingly, while QF wouldn't issue my JQ BP - JQ issued the BP for my QF flight home without me even asking:

Anyway, my day doing quality checks on the First lounge and JQ 35 for July 30th is now complete :D

Alas they wouldn't do it.

That's a pity. QF check-in staff are supposed to be able to issue JQ BPs (Intl) that are on the same booking, so they *should* have been able to do it.

I did not think they would, more than one QF CSA has mentioned in the past that most dont even have access to JQ systems so cannot provide a level of service if the wanted to.

BTW my room at the IC has been upgraded to a club room, so once the mini bar is gone the party will be moving to the top floor club (where its a private club after the freebies stop at 8PM), but its a cash bar :( with a view thats hard to beat:

From the Agents site: Qantas Industry Sales Site - Policies and Procedures - Qantas Codeshare on Jetstar Operated Flights
Jetstar International Flights

Full bag connectivity and passenger check-in.

QF International to JQ International v.v.
QF Domestic to JQ International v.v.

Baggage connectivity and passenger through check-in is available for customers connecting from/to Qantas domestic and international flights to/from Jetstar international flights. Passengers will receive boarding passes for both sectors at commencement of journey. This is available for both JQ marketed and QF codeshare customers.

This may be a really dumb question. But can I checkin for the flight at OOL? Considering it's a international terminal and has the faculties to do so.

I was thinking.

Checkin at OOL JQ with SYD-MEL International boarding pass
Jump on my Virgin Flight to SYD
Transfer to T1, hear directly to security.
F Lounge!

I'd have to convince staff, that's another problem.

Since I arrive at 11:50 I would rather not join the back of the long que at jetstar and just head directly to the boarding gate. In the past for domestic trips I've been able to checkin with just hand luggage at the service desk.

Shock horror, reality not matching published procedures with JQ ;), mind you the current JQ website says International to International only.

Baggage transfers and/or check-in for multiple flights may be available when booked on one itinerary and where sufficient connection time is allowed. These connections will only be offered for selected airports and are only available for the following connections:
Jetstar International
to and from
Jetstar International

Jetstar International
to and from
Qantas International

Jetstar International
to and from
Interline partners

Jetstar Domestic NZ
to
Qantas International
(Auckland only)

We are pleased to offer baggage connections with selected Qantas and interline partner flights. If your connecting flights are on one ticket, we offer baggage connections between international services with for the following airline partners:

Generally you can't collect boarding passes for flights that depart a different airport (except when you have a single booking and all BPs are issued at once).

Tried it before - no dice.

Also - whilst the through-check provisions do exist.... They don't include D pax on International flights

Unfortunately, I'm working this w/e:( o/wise I was thinking of joining you all. May come to drinks in Syd on Sat evening / night or lunch in Syd on Sun for those around.

May join you guys for a drink or two...are you guys planning to have dinner first in Syd, or you will all be already full from the Syd F lounge, Mel J lounge and the flight up from Mel?

I am interested in this. After hearing stories about the last such 'big-group event' (and gatecrashing the end of it on my way to FFFNQ), I think it will be a good day/weekend.

Unfortunately it's a bit early for me confirm anything, as I don't know what's happening with work yet.Hopefully I can get a better picture of July's schedule in the next week or two and can then confirm.

For the newbies, I live in MEL, so if I am in Australia, I *should* be able to make it.
