I rang my non country bank today as some points posted . I received only 1400 and should have been closer to 5000 QFF . I asked about the westfields transactions and was told they didnt post but couldnt give me a reason. A investigation team is looking into it and get back to me within 5 business days . Lucky me !

FWIW I know of one person who was investigated for PO spend on the card a fair time back well before this thread was a twinkle in Newk's eye, and whose activity was then curtailed by them.

So it is not a matter of if they are watching (they are), or if they are aware (they are), but rather what they choose to tolerate per individual, or en-masse.

Tap is currently on, but it could be turned off at anytime......either per person or en-mass.

Business's tolerate "leakage" as long as it is small and is offset by profits. But if the leakage becomes a flood then, the hole will be plugged.

TBH, how would they know it was you and who to investigate? Unless they go through that little ID slip you sometimes have to fill in at the conciege? But I thought that that was only for fraud prevention purposes and should be destroyed asap? If otherwise, a complaint to the privacy commisioner is in order i say. :shock:

Yah your not good at reading ey . I posted 1400 from other purchases . I brought 3 cards since I found this deal what maybe two weeks ago . Any slower it would be better to stay home. People have PM me have maxed out the flat tv screen with a 25k annual limit so I'm way behind. WGF can call me anytime and ask about my translations il tell then step-by-step and if they don't like it Change it .

And IMO the only good redemption from this is a J domestic seat which still comes with $70 odd for taxes . Any o.s travel is a joke I can get it cheaper than the total taxes . $300 nrt - syd wake up !

Yes. Obviously I am bad at reading. But obviously something you do attracts serious attention.... you must be the unluckiest person around when it comes to these type of deals.

Hmmm.. next time I'm at the concierge, I should ask what (if anything) do they do with those slips where they record my DL, Address and Phone Number.

You are missing the point I think, they will change it eventually, but some peoples activity will speed this up rather quickly, I'm not saying that this is you, but everybody needs to balance the activity they are putting through these cards.

The real question is that can someone restrain themselves, slow down, pick the cherries off the tree, but leave some leaves on the branches for the next crop, reading some posts in here it would seem that too many people are looking to chop the tree down... Money trees don't come around often, so lets look after them while they last

Sadly logic, reason, community spirit, insight, and restraint are foreign concepts to some here. It is quite sad. My interactions suggest that at least one person here is totally incapable of even understanding any of these concepts. Never mind practicing any of them. Trying to reason with such a person is pointless oh wise Shintaro.

OK. So they know the credit cards details. They know its Mr Joe Public. But short of having an address and telephone number, they can't do anything about it (apart from maybe blocking the credit card I guess).

The most they can do is refuse the sale of cards which is well within their terms and conditions. I doubt they would go to the extent of calling people or putting cards they have already sold on hold.

Edit to add but ninety seconds later that my savings account is now less charged and the coffers of both federal and state governments are a tiny bit fuller. As is my tummy after a few purchases in the lovely noteast park at Marion.

All very simple and easy.

For anyone in SA: Marion noteast park telegraphic institution has self serve kiosks. Both above transactions needed counter staff however. But no fuss, no bother. I think that being in the centre they might see a few more of the said cards.

I wonder how many customers they would drive way if they added 3% surcharge for AMEX. Even so it might be worth it for some people topping off an award compared to buying miles. There's also plenty of good visa/mcards out there.

Some of us (myself included) have been asked for our phone numbers while purchasing cards at the concierge desk. I suppose I should start giving my landline (which gets used only for the internet!).
