Westfield XS card

Are you talking about buying things at Westfield.com.au (eg shoes) and paying with XS cards, or are you talking about buying $200 XS cards on Westfield.com.au for $204.95?

If it's the first, no, you do not earn points.
If it's the second, I believe that T&C applies to the first scenario.

When you buy XS cards on Westfield.com.au the site tells you how many Velocity points you will earn (410). Screenshot that if you place an order.

At this stage you do earn on buying things paid for with gift cards and also buying gift cards.

Well as I predicted to Newk a couple of months ago, it's happened.

Memo sent to Australia Post Offices. If you have cards that you bought to pay bills at the Post Office, I'd get in there now.

The cards definitely still work at the PO, but they are not supposed to accept them anymore. I was part way through paying a bill when the guy saw the card, stopped went and got this memo.

I took a photo of it when he went to get the manager. They finished paying the bill and said they would no longer accept the cards.

I won't miss the black mark on my thumb nail.

Any chance of getting a readable version of the letter shot? Or a transcription?

Sorry
Posting from the app. This any better?

Will post properly when I get back to the office. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1362625021.176808.jpg

Thanks. Well, bugger.

Skyring

Not to be despaired my friend.

I/We can still enjoy the occasional Japanese / Chinese meals on AMEX.

My local Council is happy with me paying them over the counter - now, that's close to one grand there .... on a quarterly basis (which was not there in 2011 or 2012 IIRC).

Someone here settled their childcare fees too. Now, that's not cheap either.

PO or not PO, that's not the end of the gr..y train

There is nothing wrong with that, or is there ?

Much better than pre WSF, I'd suggest.

Still hard to read.

Need high res version. Who do we complain to ? Australia Post?

Its says Westfield Gift cards and Westfield XS cards (pictured below) must not be accepted for any financial services products incl load and go, money order, western union, postbillpay, bankpost and credit card payment options, they must not be redeemed for cash or used to buy other gift cards.

not sure why its on its side, but see how this goes...

I feel like if everyone chilled out for a while it might be good, post office staff might forget memos after 3 months or so

Don't forget you can do what I've been doing and avoid CC surcharges - Aldi, hotels (1.5%), restaurants, cafes, small businesses etc. This is the true value of XS Cards.

aka Let Westfields make money off you! xD

I don't see your logic here...

Assuming that you do a reasonable load amount, the merchant fees plus the marginal cost of producing the cards is definetly more than the activation fee plus a few days/weeks interest on the amount loaded.

For those who purchase these cards with fees waived or at a discount to face value the equation is even less in Westfield's favour.

Naturally YMMV

You could always print out a coloured fake cover over the xs cards and use them at the post office? rofl

I would not be surprised if they recode the POS to reject the card numbers.

AP's system seems to know the "card type" shall we say - it comes up as "Proprietary EFTPOS" or something like that - I'll check a receipt from where I made an actual purchase of postage products using an XS card to see what it says.

Well yes. The previous equilibrium was that Westfield made some money and the card purchasers got points. (And there were people doing their gift card thing too of course :) )

The ongoing quest for totally free points is confounding.

Edit to mention other card uses

Nice idea, but if you get caught, you could be having some serious talks with the cops.
