AP's system seems to know the "card type" shall we say - it comes up as "Proprietary EFTPOS" or something like that - I'll check a receipt from where I made an actual purchase of postage products using an XS card to see what it says.
Yes Propriety Debt. aka AP cannot distinguished who it is from afaik.

We should complain to Westfield saying we cant use it at AP they wont let us, wtf is going on. lololol

Proprietary Debit.

Nice idea, but if you get caught, you could be having some serious talks with the cops.
It isnt fraud. Tell me where and why the cops would be called in? You arent using fraudulently used or drug money.

I don't know if Aus Post would have a particular issue with the self service I mean it's not their money and unlike where you are creating extra unnecessary transactions and taking up the time of a counter staff there is not much impact on Aus Post besides possibly transactions costs of the system. It would also probably be a difficult system change to block certain types of cards and I can't see Westfield compensating Aus Post for completing it plus semi-govt organisations take a while to change. My guess is that self service might be a go for a while. Still everyone should take a deep breath and consider more normal uses of these cards for a while.

If one presents a certain card with a sticker over the top to represent it as another - one issued by a bank, say - then there is a clear intent to deceive the counter staff. They would be quite within their rights to call the police to sort things out. Maybe there's no actual crime, but one would doubtless rather not be spending time trying to explain the details to a couple of constables.

That's why you just stick something else over it, like the colour yellow or something *shrugs. Ahhh the things we do with our money. Interesting things. xD

*Dont recommend doing it though, but yes technically you could but dont blame AFF if it gets you in trouble, though legally they have no leg to stand on.

"With a Westfield XS Gift Card, you can shop where EFTPOS is accepted, in or out of Westfield, across Australia."

It is a normal use. o.o
Well, yes, but remember that there are caveats. Coles and Myer don't accept them. AP obviously doesn't want to touch them at the moment. Realistically, they aren't getting any advantage out of the deal after the initial $6.95. On the contrary, their staff are spending paid time reloading cards or whatever.

AP gets paid for each reload plus they receive interest for the total amount stored on the cards at any given time. They also get paid for Bank@Post transactions.

Yes, I strongly recommend against this also. If I saw someone use a card with a blank face or a sticker over the front, I'd immediately suspect some sort of crime was going down. A skimmed card or something.

Well, whoever's doing the paying must be upset with some customers loading the thing up and then draining the full amount within 25 hours!

Yep they sure are... Losing A LOT of money on our little thing.

The Westfield Group has interests in and operates one of the world's largest shopping centre portfolios. The global portfolio has 105 high quality regional shopping centres in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and Brazil valued at A$64.4 billion, with approximately 22,842 retailers in 9.7 million square metres of retail space.

Yeah, but they didn't get to where they are by being careless with the details. They have a reputation for screwing the most they can get out of everybody. Hard-nosed business practices don't fly well with letting people dip their fingers into the corporate coffers, even if it's only a few dollars at a time.

I don't know if our thread here has had anything to do with it, but I notice that guest accounts regularly browse this thread - I'm seeing three online at the moment - and I would not be at all surprised if we've been giving away far too much.

We really shouldn't talk about the bus.

Totally agree with you on their practises. High rent etc...
If they can get rich off us, we surely can get rich off them! ;)

I bought some postal goods and services (as in stamps, packaging) today and thought I'd try using XS. I said 'I'll pay on Eftpos please', processed the payment by swiping my XS card and left. Thought you all may be interested.

Not surprising given the memo did not prohibit those sort of transactions.

I suggest some extra leg work to your local SM stick to the auto machines and avoid the PO all together it . It works out better cpm .
