What changes would you make to the Qantas Booking site?

So can it auto populate the destination/departure field if I type the airport code and then 'tab'?

Depends on the browser, but I don't think it auto-selects. Although you can use the cursor keys to get to where you need to after typing it in, and then press tab.

I use safari. The Jetstar website has the functionality as does VA. Old Qantas website used to do the same. But not the new Qantas website.

Also, it would be quicker to change the departure or destination city if clicking those fields automatically highlighted the existing city so you can type in the new city straightaway. Currently the cursor will be placed at the end so you have to manually backspace or select all and then type over.

Wohoo! Thank you for this tip... what a saving! I was sick of having to move back to the mouse to select the destination and this works. I guess this is why you are known as Awesom Andy. :D

Not sure if this is the right thread. However is anyone having an issue with The Qantas site storing the basic info at log in ? (Remember me)
I cant get it to work. :-(

Is this the home page FF login on the right hand side (or the new pop up box which appears if you try to search for awards but haven't FF-logged in)?

It seems to work fully for me on the popup box, but all sans FF# for the home page login. Then again, it is my browser which handles the autofilling of the home page login details; I doubt it is the Qantas website (viz. via cookies or what not).

It's the standard log in with the " remember me box". Not working.

I hope I'm not speaking too soon but one of the things that really bugged me about the QF site appears to have changed.

Previously, when searching for flights, everytime you changed the departure and/or arrival city, the date reset to today. Now, it doesn't. If it sticks, that's awesome.

I would like the ability to change the destination city without the system prompting you to select your departure and return dates again.

That's available now, as per my post.

I'm not sure if it changes upon context, but from what I've found, it still brings up the calendar panel automatically, but instead of clearing out the existing date and focussing on today, it retains the date you selected. That is, if you want to keep the date you previously selected, just click away from the calendar panel (to close it).

Yep. A semi-solution I s'pose.

Was not sure where to post this - but my frustration with the Qantas Website for booking fares between Cairns and Melbourne has reached the point of absurdity. Their simpler and fairer model of marketing seats on these flights on most given days (excluding JQ flights) is 1 direct flight to Melbourne, 6 flights with 2 legs via Brisbane or Sydney and 7 with 3 legs - including absurd routing via Sydney, Canberra and Townsville. In some cases the price of a red e deal ticket is more than a Business Class fare. Most frustrating some routes via Sydney are not showing and must be booked by multi city engine. I am not sure whether this is being driven by some kind of marketing spin - or a status credit junkie form AFF has taken a job over at Qantas. Do they understand what their customers are looking for - or are they playing a game f "trap the tourist" and let everyone else take the consequences.

i'd like the web site to show all classes as there doesnt seem much gap in some when they are on sale the site wont allow you to have them in the one window + most important allow you to book oneworld airlines. i cant see why QF tell you that multiple airlines have code share and you can earn points on them but try and see them and book online is impossible

Id hate that i have to tick the awards box overtime i search for an award booking from somewhere outside Aust. Surely the airport code should be enough.

Id like to be able to search for a one way QFF award on Qatar airlines flight out off DOH but can't select DOH to book it which is weird because i can book it as destination or a return. Same with VFA (Victoria Falls). These to may be for the reasons but a pop saying so would be nice instead of frustrating me me.

Make em consistently consistent !

My list would be:
  • Ability to filter or sort fare results based on carrier (e.g. Qantas only, exclude Jetstar, exclude Emirates) - this should apply to the operator of the flight, not the marketer. For example, if I choose to filter to exclude Jetstar flights, flights which are operated by Jetstar, irrespective of the flight number used, should be blocked out.
Appears this is now possible. Noticed a "refine search" option next to "sort by" which allows you to pick Qantas flights only and excluding Jetstar.

Well spotted! Certainly a positive enhancement.
