What cheeses me off

FYI @drron you can top up Opal (registered or not) at machine at any NSW railway station - just need the card and a debit/credit card.
Doesn’t help when you live in QLD. And arriving at night so really want to be mucking around at the airport station.

Guess it depends on your definition of mucking around - tap opal, press button, tap credit card - 5 seconds at most when you are at the station anyway seems like much less mucking around than you have had trying to register cards.

Also for late night arrival Uber will be quicker.

and possibly not much more for two on the train (even with a Gold card). Unless looking to take the bus?

Speaking of….

WCMO - partner has a Gold Opal and likes to take the 350 bus home instead of an Uber! 🙄

Fortunately, it doesn’t go to/from SYD T1….

WCMO is sneaky EFTPOS machines that don't show the card surcharge until *after* you tap. I disagree with the surcharges so always choose another payment method when presented with them.

Bought something for $39.99. EFTPOS machine screen said $39.99. Tapped and screen changed briefly to $40.43 before spitting out receipt. I had words to the shop assistant about deceptive practices. This was soon escalated to the manager. I think she realised there were diminishing returns by continuing to argue with me. I eventually got my surcharge back.

Arsonists. Wednesday we handed over several security keys and fobs (replacement around $150 each because they can charge that) to our property management people as we are renting out our apartment again. Handover was 25 October to new tenant.

Last night - that same property manager office was hit by aronsists for the third time in a week (first I'd heard of that) and last night they were successful, in burning it down.

One would hope that after the first attempt they'd have upped their security. Or at most the second attempt in a week. Don't know if this link will work.

Now we wait to hear if the Agents had responsibly and safely stored our keys. It takes about a fortnight to get them replaced. And the cost. Over $1000 for the set.

Awful
I would imagine (?) if thieves want keys to access properties and steal - then breaking into the office would allow this
…. But burning down an office (third attempt?) — very odd and less likely to achieve this…
I so hope you have minimal inconvenience @Pushka - but sounds like a real pain.❤️

Something else going on with this agent that does not involve keys.

Well, there have been several arson attacks happening in Adelaide, one every night. It's the criminals trying to build up a protection racket business for the illegal smoke shops that are ramping up in Adelaide and which even amongst Joe Citizen do a roaring trade because smokes are insanely priced these days.

This one - the agents I've been dealing with are great but there's something up. Wierd to see the door and room I entered into this week damaged by fire.

Apartment keys and fobs are safe! They only lost the front office and boardroom and whilst other areas are smoke damaged, there was no loss to general property. People working from home as office uninhabitable but all keys etc have been secured. Covid has taught everyone that WFH can work and IT systems already in place from that time.

Well, the keys etc. should be kept in a fire proof safe anyway. If they're not, then this should at least prompt them to do so. However, you would hope even before this happened that was already in place...... #HoldingClientProperty101

Yes agree and was hopeful of that but who knows. The delay of the front office sending them out back by just a day maybe to catalogue, could have been our undoing.

I noticed that Woolworths specials this week are Pepsi Max 12 x 450mL bottles for $10 which is half price.

Went to first Woolworths where we shop regularly and the whole bottom shelf about 4 feet wide is empty.

Second Woolworths does not even stock them.

Of FFS why is it so difficult to have stock available of what's on special. There is no way I'd spend $20 on 12 x 450mL bottles but at $10 I'd buy 6-8 dozen. Anyway wouldn't expect anything better from these thieves.
But if you buy 6-8 and a bunch of others (everyday people) do too, then they’ll be out of stock. Sounds like they just beat you there, esp as sales start on Wednesday.

I think thats my gripe and this is not the first time. If you're going to have something on special then you need to be able to anticipate demand and ensure you have enough stock. I don't think I'll be able to purchase any of the 12 x 450mL bottles this week.

To be honest I'm not interested in 12 x 450mL bottles at $20. But if we look at the space that was empty I'd say they stock at least 20-30 packs. And it was empty by first afternoon of specials. That's not good.

Today's little annoyance/ #WCMO. Filling in some documentation for super around deductions for personal contributions. I have my scanned signature in Acrobat that I use to sign documents. But no this year "we don't accept digital signatures" (you did for the the last 5 years, what's changed?).

Solution? Print out the document, scan it and resubmit. Exactly the same document, more or less the same signature (I moved it slightly to the right and made it slightly smaller, so it was different to orginal document). I mean that step is going to be way too difficult for someone committing fraud, so I guess it stops that

Had the same issue with transferring shares to a different broker - with exactly the same solution, which was fine.

Why are organisations stuck in the 20th century?

WCMO, being asked to provide written patient details when I have already had 20 imaging scans at said imaging clinic since 2019. Attended last week for a PET scan and was asked to complete a patient details form. Honestly, DYKWIA by now!
Unnecessary paperwork for people in your situation. I had a breast screen a few weeks ago and was asked to fill in details of previous scans, which would have been years ago. I took a stab at some of the dates. Got to the clinic and the receptionist called across the room to me - you said you had a scan in 2018 and 2016. All we can find in your records is 2017 and 2015. I confirmed I'd taken a guess at the year and wondered - why did I have to answer those questions when you already had access to all my records and had to check them anyway?

What gets my goat is the past-tense, bureaucratic way that airlines treat missing bags.

Air France flt from Portugal to Paris, my bag doesn’t make connection from an earlier flt. I know it, checkin confirms it and crew onboard announce last rites.. I am travelling back to Aust after an onight at CDG, so there’s actually time for my bag to be sent to Paris and couriered to the airport hotel. Onboard crew make a report, but I suspect that doesnt go anywhere until after our flt lands in Paris. So that’s the first gripe - no action even when we know there’s a problem.

So I go to AF lost luggage on arrvl Paris, fill in a form, talk to the staff, and suggest they ‘could’ get my bag on several other flts that I hv researched: TAP and some LCC to Paris the same evening. Oh no, we don’t work with them say AF, we will put it on our own flt. But you only have one per day from Porto, and that doesn’t arrv til tomw eve. By that time I’m long gone on SQ to Sin and eventually home to Tas. Well that’s how we work sir.. what a long and expensive process..

So I wake up to the same clothes as yday, get checked in for SQ 335 and get a mssg that my bag is on its way to Paris. No time given, so who knows what ‘on its way’ means..

Anyway enough of a rant, my satay has just arrvd.
