There was JohnM and I, cruising up to our pub near Mendoza and he suggests dropping in on some winery for lunch.

Sounded like a plan, so we talked our way past the guard at the gate and proceeded to the O'Fornier winery:

There we were met by a delightful young lady who insisted on giving us a tour of the place (another thread!) and a taste of some of their plonk (sigh). Then we had lunch.

This was the view (that's snow on the high Andes for the uninitiated).

A 6 course degustation menu - started with two appetisers - Parmesan foam with chardonnay caramelised onions in wonton dough, then sausage balls in sausage sauce and (very!) fresh oregano.

Then soup: "Maize textures" - foam, soup and grains. Then my main - twice cooked ragout in polenta cream.

Torrentes sorbet and Malbec poached pears with vanilla ice cream in a caramel basket to finish.

Everything was just wow. A$100/head for tour, tasting, 6 course degustation with matching wine in a superb location.

Of course there was matching wine, but this is the food thread.

Fantastic post RooFlyer and JohnM
