What I ate today - the food thread

I used to live on Simpsons Road and drive McGregor Terrace regularly to see my parents and never knew that restaurant was there @TheRealTMA . Must check it out - have our 20 year wedding anniversary coming up

Food is quite good. 7 people food $777. Wines are good but as usual for Oz restaurtants, not cheap. Good wines - Bottle of Blanc de blanc, bottles of 2018 Meursault and Chablis, 2 x 2014 Cahors Malbecs - wine bill $1095

Was tempted by the 2009 Margaux 3Ème Grand Cru Classé, Château Palmer at $1190 :) :) :)

As part of current travels in Tamil Nadu, India. I’m today in a city called “Tiruchirapalli”, or “Trichy” for short.

Enjoyed a South Indian lunch at “Shri Sangeetha” … a small cosy family style dining place. Couldn’t have brekkie due to some commitments so wanted to have a big lunch.

A very helpful “tuk-tuk” driver took us to this restaurant. Ordered the “meals” - that’s what it’s called. No indication of what to expect, except for, meals … so, meals it is …

Really tasty and well made. Comes with unlimited rice and unlimited refills for any item. It’s all vego, of course and it only cost me a little shy of $3 per meal, per person … so a family of four, plus the tuk-tuk driver, the final bill was around $15 mark.

After finishing this plate we were offered a dessert, ice cream and filter coffee - all included in the final bill :-) #HappyDays :)

While looking appetising that doesn't look like any char kway teow I have ever had. The 'soup' and the eggs don't fit and I can't see any flat rice noodles.
You are absolutely correct. I must have hit the wrong pic on the phone - this was Singapore laksa! Also very good, even though I’m not normally a big fan.
Can’t see a pic of the char kway teow, but it was good!

BaK Kut Teh (Herbal Pork Rib Tea) via Book the Cook
The soup is not correct and thin in flavour. The real soup is very strong with flavour, darker and herbal (herbs from Chinese medicine shop traditionally and the herbs are placed in a filter bag). Garlic bits - definitely not like that.

In the online feedback I suggested some Chinese mushrooms should be added.

5/10 for trying.

Not my favourite dish so I am not an expert but I agree that it certainly doesn't look anywhere near dark or rich enough to me compared to what I have eaten in KL.

A downer
Maison Francoise, Mayfair London UK

Contextually looks like a fine dining establishment in Mayfair a few doors down from the Ritz with some of the accoutrements of fine dining except no tablecloth and PYOG with a P.

Should be a Bistro

Easy to book suggests one thing. Unlike Core by CS
Can't recommend.
Would instead go to Fallow
