Speaking of rich.... Not normally a sweet tooth but thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Canapes and drinks on the ferry beforehand, and nightcaps on the return. Outstanding meal.

Private dinner so service was fantastic. But I suspect it's always top notch.

Hilton Brisbane was my venue today:

My main - the rump steak. They really needed steak knives as the ordinary knives were difficult to use, given the size of the steaks

IMG_7681.jpeg

The hero dish of the day. The strawberry coulis drops weren’t on the menu but it elevated the dish.

IMG_7682.jpeg

I do wish they’d stop with the purple mood lighting in these presentation/events. Really makes it difficult to get a good photo

Nara Thai restaurant naturally as we are in Hong Kong. I had an Asahi and Mrsdrron a coconut smoothie.

Then it returns to the kitchen.

We had the pomelo salad with prawns and it was excellent. Then crispy enoki mushrooms. Another really good dish.

Lunch at Kingsway Malta. Kinnie Spritz and duck and hoisin wrap. Kinnie is a local soft drink and is used in the spritz instead of soda. Both really delicious although the potato chips are an interesting accompaniment.

Dinner at Anglo Maltese. Tequila Sunrise (a bit light on the tequila I thought!) and octopus salad. Both reasonably priced and tasty.

Heh, won't ever try a Halo Halo by myself again.
Didn't realise how sweet it can be, and how big the bowl is, and how chewy startchy the Phillipino desert is.
if anyone wants to try it, make sure you have 2 people in your "dinner party" so you can share it.
The bowl I had, I couldn't finish.
Ate about 3/4 of it.
They use real ultra sweet condensed milk.

Lunch at Whitegrass, Singapore.

The amusee bouche. Lobster, chestnut cake and 5 spice lettuce. All very flavourful. IMG_5982.thumb.jpeg.df379a7aec2ea246e2b676547b79c3b5.jpeg

Lovely bread with French butter.

Hokkaido scallop. Best scallop I’ve ever had.

Than a lilybulb soup. The only let down as bland.

Mrsdrron had the Waygu which just melted in her mouth. Not a great steak eater but she finished before me. IMG_5987.thumb.jpeg.e388dd300f3c097c684a03e40fce4c39.jpeg

I had the duck which was perfect. IMG_5988.thumb.jpeg.05a81a8dececdf67fba16643b8a964be.jpeg

Then a lovely palate cleanser with apple, ginger and Japanese pineapple.
IMG_5989.thumb.jpeg.3d95d8a3e1dc7d2e8ff85ac59a52e8f2.jpeg

Then desert. Fig on a rum biscuit and cream with lemon sorbet. Delicious.

To finish A financier with honey and coconut mochi with a raspberry jelly.IMG_5996.thumb.jpeg.4471fcaf297422a6dadcecfe4a4e0e13.jpeg

Had a bottle of an Italian Pinot Grigio rose.

Then a visit to our table by Chef Takuya Yamashita.

A great meal and a definite recommendation if you are visiting Singapore.

Moorish restaurant Darwin. Gin cured salmon IMG_6227.jpeg

Marinated kangaroo with tomato jam.
IMG_6228.jpeg

Roasted cauliflower with pomegranates and dill aioli.IMG_6229.jpeg

Pan fried scallops.
IMG_6230.jpeg

Every dish was excellent.
But we had room for dessert. Mrsdrron had the Turkish delight ice cream. Would have liked a second serving if she had room.
IMG_6236.jpeg
IMG_6237.jpeg

And I had an excellent Crema Catalan’s.
IMG_6238.jpeg

A glass of Sav Blanc and a local beer-
IMG_6223.jpeg

And the cost was $108.50. Fantastic value and highly appreciated.
We are back in Darwin for 3 days next June so will probably eat here twice.
