What I ate today - the food thread

I have finally snaffled the laptop from my wife for a few minutes so I will try and catch up on some f the meals we have had on our trip so far.

Vietnam Airlines :-

3 Hour flight Singapore to Hanoi - J on a A321. I had a Chicken Curry with salad and a muffin. Very nice but the curry was of the type I think of as Japanese so fairly sweet rather than spicy. Several on board requested and received Whisky and Soda as a PDB. A selction breads including hot Garlic Bread wa offered.

My wife had Braised Beef with rice

Hanoi - Frankfurt in J on a B787. During the 'darkened' part of the flight the FA's were continuously circulating offering drinks and snacks. We had some sort of fishcakes.

Entree - Cold Chicken Breast Salad. Desert was a type of pudding served on the initial food tray.

Beef Sirloin(?). Served medium but very tender.

Breakfast

Fresh fruit, yoghurt and Pho. The serving of Pho was too big for either of us to finish. The other choices were a Congee or omelette.

Evening meal at a Apple Wine Restaurant in Frankfurt near the Zoo - Zur Schönen Müllerin. The servings were so big that we couldn't finish all the food.

My wife had a slice of torte

IMG20231205145023.jpgI went mad and Ordered a Salzburger Nockerl. It was absolutely delicious.Soft and warm with a longonberry base. I forced my wife to help eat it. We both waddled out.

A long boozy lunch with friends at Tziki Bar. Forest Glen on Thursday. Maybe why I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of a complete plate.
We shared 6 plates of lamb ribs which were everyone’s favourite. Also 4 plates of calamari, 2 plates of octopus and plates of king prawns and Cauliflower salad.IMG_6480.jpeg

Plus a couple of bottles of the white and red wine.

Thoroughly recommended

Nothing but Haute Cuisine for us! Half metre sausage in a bun shared at Nuremberg Christmas Market for a laugh. Unlike the normal Bratwurst, etc this saugages taste barely measured up to a Bunnings sausage sizzle one. 8 Euros.

I was tempted but glad I didn’t now - here is somewhere you could try out if you’re in Prague

We had lunch today at the remains of the original Leipzig bahnhof opened in 1842. It now housed a brewery restaurant. I have seen this place covered on German language travel shows on YouTube.

We were lucky enough to get the last available table as it was really crowded.

My wife had smoked salmon with potato croquettes. I had fish and chips. The fish was two huge pieces of salmon. For some reason my meal was described as being 'girl with umbrella' style.

I had Leipziger Gose beer. This beer does not meet the German Beer laws as it contains various additives like salt and coriander. It is given an exemption because it is an historical regional speciality. Slightly sour but very nice.

KFC NZ.
If you decide to do ordering via the pre order, the system on app won't accept overseas cards.
But pre ordering instore via the machine will accept overseas cards.
Take the numbered disk to start ordering on the machine.
It will then send order to kitchen and your disk number is called when ready.
I thought what coupon number... then saw the disk with number on it.
Staff will then call that number.
Online orders will be 4 digit where as in Au, they use first name.
