What I ate today - the food thread

Don't know how I missed this place hiding in between all the agogos in front of my hotel.

Fell asleep last night and went to do laundry early this morning then small breakfast for 99 baht.

And I've been looking for bangers and mash everywhere. 189 baht, 209 baht, 249 baht. No thanks. This same place has Wednesday special bangers and mash 99 baht and Friday fish and chips 99 baht.

Any offers for 50 baht?
No but 2 young adults haggling at the exchange for 385 baht.

1000INR = 380 baht.

The lady cannot bargain as her boss will fire her. Either exchange or go. I think they would have been 50 baht in front had she granted their wish.

Free Food Friday after golf at Travellers Rest. Very tasty.

I've been seeing the pie carts around Pattaya for years but never indulged. Stopped in front of me today while I was having a drink at Travellers Rest and order the large sausage roll. About as bland as it can get. You have to be drunk to enjoy. The Coles sausage rolls are tastier.

Basic fish and chips from bar/bistro outside my hotel for 99 baht. Is not greasy. Good value.

Mid week dinner with a mate at Wok It Up! Braddon, ACT.

This is my first time in Wok It Up. I’ve walked past this shop a few times but never ventured in.

Mate and I were thinking of what to do for dinner and he suggested that we go to WIU!, as we are both vegos and it turned out to be a great meal. Loved it 😻

For ordering - You can choose from one of the many preset meal boxes or make your own. There were some plant based and vego boxes too. But I wanted to make my own. You can include/exclude things you like/don’t like.

Worth noting that the Hot Chiili sauce isn’t vego :(

So once you fill in what you like, the chef’s assistant picks the ingredients and hands it over to the chef to cook.

As with all my meals, I did ask for fresh chilli to be added. However, it wasn’t doing it for me. So had to take chilli oil from the condiment counter, which also had fried onion and 5 more condiments (I forgot which ones). There’s a note on the condiment counter that only one condiment per customer. But they weren’t enforcing that rule strictly.

The meal was really good and it was $ well spent. Will come back here again.

Bite Booze, Braddon. A recently renovated Asian restaurant in Braddon, ACT. Good interiors/atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Handful of vego options. Nothing vegan though …

They had a deal on the door - Buy a meal and get Tsing-Tao lager for $3 … there wasn’t clear details on how many $3 beer can be ordered per meal …

Had the veggie dumplings steamed. 15 pieces of dumplings for $15.xx. Definitely worth it. My mate had pork dumplings pot stickers and he said it was amazing. I could see that he was enjoying his dumplings.

As always a generous serving of chilli oil to take the dumplings to the next level 😍

Yes I do like my sake and I can get as much as I want at the moment in the Sakura lounge at HND. But it is too early for me unlike the 2 young Aussies sitting next to us who discovered that the spirits were out so knocking back 2 glasses at a time of Suntory whiskey. Probably didn’t notice that there was a single malt available.

But to my Japanese breakfast.

The beef.

But there was Japanese curry as well. Along side onion or miso soup.

Dinner for 1 at Dum Dickson, ACT.

I’ve only recently started frequenting this restaurant and I’m starting to like their dishes. This restaurant is now my go to for a late dinner. The other Indian places I frequent usually close around 2100, but this place is open till 2200.

Table 6 is becoming my *usual*. Walk in and the host says “your table is available” 😂

Veg Pulao rice, Mutter Paneer (peas and cottage cheese) curry and roti.

Loved the curry 😀
